21、Spain’s three-month-long lockdown order issued to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 was finally lifted. To celebrate the joyous occasion, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona—one of Europe’s most famous opera houses—staged its first live performance since March. While every seat was occupied, there was not a human to be found. Instead, the sold-out audience comprised 2292 potted plants carefully selected from local nurseries.
Featuring the UceLi Quartet (四重奏), the performance, made available to human listeners via live-stream, was a prelude (序曲) to the opera house’s upcoming season. In a nod to its leafy audience, the string quartet played a moving performance of Giacomo Puccini’s Crisantem. Inspired by the beautiful yellow flowers, it is among a handful of instrumental works—and one of only four compositions for string quartet—penned by the famous Italian opera composer. Written in a single night, the musical arrangement was intended for King Amadeo of Spain—a close friend of Puccini’s—who died in 1890.
Unfortunately for the musicians, the audience was unable to give the amazing 8-minute-long performance the standing applause it deserved. However, its thunderous “applause”—the sound of leaves and branches blowing—could be heard across the opera house.
Eugenio Ampudia came up with the brilliant idea of the unusual audience when he was inspired by nature during the lockdown. The Spanish artist says, “I heard many more birds singing and the plants in my garden growing faster. Without doubt, I thought maybe I could relate in a closer way with people and nature.”
Following the concert, the “guests” were gifted to 2292 healthcare workers at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona. The opera house officials said they wanted to show their appreciation for the brave men and women who have served “on the toughest front in a battle unexampled for our generations”.

22、As the college entrance examination approaches, you will feel that you lack the ability to control the emotions. 【1】. The following methods teach you how to control your emotions well before an exam.
First, take a deep breath and stay calm. Finding peace and staying relaxed is all about being in the present moment and not bombarding your mind with too many worries about the future. All that you have now is the current moment.【2】.
Have to accept that how you show your emotions has a very real effect on others. If you find yourself getting angry at your fellow peers at school, there might still be some understanding from those who are going through similar feelings as you are. 【3】. Family members and those who generally aren’t as able to empathize (产生共鸣) as well with your current feelings and situation may take your anger as a personal insult (侮辱).
Learn to handle your emotions. When you start feeling boiling anger rising inside you, consider if you really need to convert that negative energy into action or comment. 【4】 Taking time to think through these emotions and giving yourself 10 seconds to calm down and consider things. Being angry only builds walls between you and others, making it difficult for loved ones to help.
【5】. Talking your feelings over with others will help you realize that there is no reason to be anxious or worried. Also, reach out to your family. I’m sure that when they were students they also went through similar pressures.
A.Connect with your peers.

24、 Imagine arriving at the airport…passing through security…finally boarding your flight and taking off…only to land a few hours later—right back where you started. No. Your plane didn't have a mechanical issue. You actually bought a plane ticket to nowhere. It's a new kind of air travel that's become popular during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A growing number of airlines-including Qantas in Australia and All Nippon Airways in Japan—offer flights that take off and touch down at the same airport-without landing anywhere in between. Recently, Qantas introduced its first seven-hour scenic flight scheduled for Oct. 10 that featured views of the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney Harbor and the Uluru monolith. Tickets—which cost between 560 dollars and just over 2,700 dollars—were sold out in 10 minutes, according to the airline. The airline industry—the travel industry overall—has just been damaged by the pandemic. The International Air Transport Association predicts the airline industry as a whole will lose 84 billion dollars this year and almost 16 billion dollars in 2021 because of the pandemic. So this new kind of air travel offers airlines an opportunity to make some money and also keep staff working.
However, environmental groups say these "flights to nowhere" should not be the answer for cash-short airlines. Mark Carter, spokesman for Flight Free Australia(an environment group)argues, "Too many of us are unaware of flying's contribution to the climate crisis. And the passengers on Qantas' ‘flights to nowhere’ will increase their annual carbon release as they fly over the Great Barrier Reef because warming is causing repeated mass bleaching(白化)events before the Reef has time to recover.”
【1】What's special about the new kind of air travel?
A.Booking a ticket in advance.
B.Boarding a plane in person.
C.Making a direct round trip.

【3】What is Mark Carter's attitude to the new kind of air travel?
A.Critical. B.Objective. C.Appreciative. D.Indifferent.
【4】What can be the best title of the text?

26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I took a trip to visit New York with my dad after graduating from high school. One of the places on his list for us to visit was a “rare violin shop" since I played the violin all four years and participated in the honor orchestra as well We made our way down the crowded streets and eventually stopped in front of a tall building
This building was not what I pictured when I heard “rare violin shop". I'd been imagining a street-level shop, open to the public, with some interesting and old violins on display, maybe with a luthier (拨弦乐器制作匠) in the back. As we walked inside, took the elevator to the sixth floor, and stood in front of what appeared to be a private condo (公寓的套房),I knew something felt off. I voiced my concern to my dad as he rang the doorbell but was ignored. My dad had never been great at interpreting (解读) social standards.
We were greeted by a receptionist who asked if we had an appointment, since they were by appointment only. I wanted the ground to swallow me whole and I was instantly aware of the sweaty, summer tourist clothes we had on. My dad eagerly told them that no, we didn't but, “my daughter plays the violin with her high school orchestra and isn't that great? And we would love to just go inside and browse! Don't mind us!”
The receptionist gave him a strange look but took it in stride (泰然处之) and excused herself to talk to someone behind a door. She came back with the owner, a well-dressed man, who told us that since he had no other appointments right now, he would love to give us a tour!
The starting price for a violin here, we found out, was 10k. He showed us around a very private feeling and swanky (时髦且豪华的) looking condo, pointed out a room where he casually mentioned he would chat with Joshua Bell when he came by, and opened the most interesting two person safe I've ever seen to show me several multimillion dollar violins.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
He asked me questions about my orchestra and what pieces I liked to play as well.
