二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、   If you’re DIY-minded, you can build your own solar power system. In some cases, you can even build your own solar panels(电池板), although the amount that you can effectively DIY home solar depends on how much you want to power. Making your own solar panel is a time-consuming process and requires some electrical skills. However, it can also be very rewarding---learning to build your own panel is a great way to understand how solar-electricity is produced.

Before you can build your own solar panels, you first need to understand how solar cells produce electricity. If you’ve bought individual solar cells(they can be purchased online), the basic process for building your own solar panel goes like this: Prepare the backing(垫板) for your panel. Many DIY solar panel builders prefer to use a wooden board as the base for their solar cell. You’ll need to drill holes in the board so that the wires for each cell can pass through. Wire your solar cells together. This requires some experience with electrical work. Use a soldering iron to attach wire to the solar cells and then link each of the cells together. Attach cells to your backing. If possible, attach each solar cell to the backing individually. This makes it easier to replace a single cell in the event that becomes damaged or is not operating properly.

At this point you have a functional solar panel that can produce electricity when the sun shines. However, a solar panel by itself is not useful. If you are trying to produce electricity to power devices in your home, you need to pair your panel with an inverter(换流器) that will turn direct current(DC) power from the sun into the alternating current(AC) power used in most modern electronic devices.

【1】How does the author like building DIY solar panel in Para. 1?

    A.It is easy.

    B.It is necessary.

    C.It is common

    D.It is worthwhile

    A.Master how to manage it.

B.Prepare the backing for your panel.

    C.Purchase individual solar cells.

D.Drill holes in the wooden board.

【3】Why are solar cells connected to the wooden board separately?

    A.To produce more power.

    B.To replace damaged cells easily.

C.To fix cells to the backing.

D.To pass through the board easily.

【4】What can be inferred from the text ?

A.People without electrical skills behave worse in DIY solar panels.

B.A wooden board is a must in building your own solar solar power.

C.How to pair an inverter depends on how much you want to power.

D.A functional solar panel can give power to your home devices directly.

  • 27、Being stranded (困住) in the wilderness is a terrifying prospect for anyone, so for those who want to be prepared, then survival training courses could be a great idea. You can learn how to survive in some of the most extreme and unstable conditions. Here are some of the best survival training courses you can find across the USA.

●Bear Grylls Survival — Available in many different countries is this well-known TV personality’s course on survival. There’s a lot of different classes on offer, from bushcraft to extreme wilderness survival. You can go on these courses from 4 to 14 day periods, and there’s even a knife only survival course too. Then they have a more intensive course available afterwards that takes survival to a whole new level with no food and water.

●Mountain Scout Survival School — For a training course that is quicker (and cheaper as well), the Mountain Scout School offers up one-day training experiences just outside of New York. Building a better tree house —

    TREEHOTEL HARADS, SWEDEN

Tree houses aren’t generally equal to splendor(壮丽). But the seven cabins at Sweden’s Treehotel could easily give The Swiss Family Robinson a run for its money. To begin with, the outside is extraordinary: one resembles a UFO, another resembles a bird’s nest, and the bottom of the latest cabin — named the 7th Room     — features a life –size photograph of the canopy(天蓬似的树荫) view. Inside, the cabins are equipped with fashionable, minimalist furniture and comfortable lounge areas. Although some guests may have to travel to a separate facility to shower, fans argue that that’s a small sacrifice to make for a one-of-a-kind camping experience.

    An ancient forest reborn —

    AMANYANGYUN, SHANGHAI

When Chinese businessman Ma Dadong discovered that a forest of ancient camphor trees would be destroyed in China’s Jiangxi Province, he undertook a mission to relocate thousands of them to the outskirts of Shanghai — 700 km away — where they now surround 24 Ming Dynasty style suites and several villas (别墅) at Amanyangyun, which opened in January, 2018. It also nods to the past, making use of recycled wood and brick from centuries –old homes. Facilities include a club lounge, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa and a variety of luxurious dining spaces, including a 200 – seat banquet hall. Calligraphy (书法) lessons and tea ceremonies are available to help guests feel part of “this monumental story”.

【1】What does the author say about the Treehotel?

    A.It is a seven-story building.

    B.It has an in-built shower.

    C.It has unique design features.

    D.It is expensively decorated inside.

【2】What can guests do in Amanyangyun?

    A.Attend a fitness class.

    B.Pick tea leaves themselves.

C.Learn the history of the Ming Dynasty.

    D.Admire ancient Chinese architecture.

【3】From which is the text probably taken?

    A.An exhibition review

    B.A travel website.

    C.A hotel comment.

    D.An official report.

  • 32、阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

One time, the teachers at a school wanted to teach the students about airplanes. While all airplanes can fly, some are able to fly farther than others. This is because not all airplanes are built the same. For example, a fighter plane looks very different from a plane that people fly in when they want to go on a holiday. The teachers wondered how they could make students understand this.

Then, the science teacher, Mr Moose, decided that the school should have a paper airplane contest. The students would produce paper airplane designs. They would stand in line on the playground behind the school. The students would take turns throwing their airplanes. The student whose airplane went the farthest would win.

When Mr Moose announced the paper airplane contest to the students, they were very excited. A student named Paul, who was on the wrestling team, bragged(吹牛)to everyone else that his airplane would win. “I am the strongest,” Paul said. “So I will be able to throw my airplane the farthest.” However, while Paul was saying this, another student, Brian, was thinking how he could win. Brian did not play any sports and was not very strong. But he loved airplanes and really wanted to win the contest.

Brian realized what he had to do. He went to the store and bought a big stack of paper. When he got home, he took the paper into his backyard. He took a piece of paper and folded an airplane. It didn’t go very far, so Brian took another sheet and folded another airplane and threw it. This airplane went a little farther. Brian kept folding different kinds of airplanes and throwing them. Some went very far and some did not. Finally, when Brian had used all the paper, he walked up to the airplane that had flown the farthest and picked it up.
