Here’s one 4-step process that may help you solve any number of problems:

2. 【3】 There’s lots of it out there, so having a clear idea of your question will help you determine what’s relevant. Information gathering helps you weigh different options, choosing a decision that meets your goal.
3. Apply the information—something you do by asking critical questions. For example, in an email that promises you millions, you should consider: ‘What is shaping my approach to this situation?’ ‘【4】’
4. Consider the implications. For the promise that seems great at first glance, try to think about the long-term effects and unintended results.
Critical thinking can offer the tools to make a perfect choice. 【5】 And if enough of us use it, it has the power to make the world more reasonable.

23、 It was a very hot day in late summer. I was a young dad working in a local wood mill. It was dangerous, back-breaking work that paid very little. In the year I had worked there only four other people hadn't quit and been replaced with new faces. Those of us who stayed did so only because there was no other work to find to support our families.
On this day the fans weren't working and all of us were covered in sweat and sawdust. When I looked around every face I saw looked angry and frustrated. Suddenly,a voice called out:“Hey! There's a deer in here.” A lost little doe had wandered through the open loading bay doors and was now cowering(蜷缩)in between the huge stacks of wood. All of us stopped working and went looking for her as she ran about looking for a way out.
Now most people where I live hunt deer for meat in the fall, but also treat them with great kindness the rest of the year. Many will even buy 50lb bags of corn to help feed them during the harsh winter months. It was no surprise then that all of us were soon quickly working together to free this little doe. By blocking off all the other routes we were able to guide her panic search back to the open bay doors. We watched as she jumped out of the building and back into the woods. Then we walked back in to work. I noticed something, though. On every face there was a joyful smile. It was as if this one single act of kindness had energized us again and reminded us of what life is all about.
【1】Why were few people willing to work in the wood mill?

C.By using familiar signals.
D.By imitating another deer.
【4】Which of the following best describes the workers?

B.Hard-working and loving.

24、 When I was about 10, I was walking down the street with my mother. She stopped to speak to Mr Lee. I knew I could see Mr Lee anytime around the neighborhood, so I just stood there. After we passed him, my mother stopped and said something unforgettable, "You let that be the last time you ever walk by somebody you know without opening your mouth to speak, because even a dog can wag its tail when it passes you on the street." That sentence sounds simple but it made me become who I am.
At work, I used to say hello to the president of the company and ask him how our business was doing. But I also spoke to the people in the cafe? and people who cleaned the buildings, and asked them how their children were doing, for every single person deserves to be accepted, no mater how humble they are. I remember that after a few years of passing by the president, I had the courage to ask him for a chat. We had a great talk. At some point, when I asked him how far he thought I could go in his company, he said that if I wanted to, I could get all the way to his seat.
I've become vice-president, but that hasn't changed how I treat people. I speak to people wherever I am. Speaking to people creates a pathway into their world, and it lets them come into mine, too.
The day you speak to someone who has his head down and then see him lift it up and smile, you will realize how powerful it is just to open your mouth and say hello.
【1】What can we learn from the second paragraph?
A. The writer didn’t say hello to anyone in the company.

A. make our world much better

D. help people understand each other better
【4】What is the best title for this passage?
