一、翻译题 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 1、   1.What's your idea about success? Some people say that beginners have all the luck, while others believe that success comes only with practice. In fact, I feel both of these statements are not true all the time. Each is true in some ways but not in others.

For example, I went to a drawing competition many years ago and won surprisingly. As a prize, 2.我得到一张看功夫熊猫(Kung Fu Panda)的票。I was really lucky because it was the first time I had taken part in any competition. 3.Thinking that I might be lucky again, I tried joining in other art competitions. But the result was that I never won again. I knew that the other people had a greater artistic ability than I did. Art was not something I was especially interested in and I had never practiced the different art skills. So, the drawings made were not of very high standard(标准).

    4. 这些经历教了我很多。Though I might have been lucky at first, I also need to put in hard work. As we know, 5.practice makes perfect. So I believe success builds on less luck and more chances.

“I was shocked,” Ke said in a news conference (新闻发布会)after the games.  “Many moves of AlphaGo would never happen in a human competition. ”

AlphaGo is an example of Artificial Intelligence (人工智能).  AI is when computers or computer programs have smart behavior and think or act like a human.  Scientists are now trying to make AI do everything from driving cars to writing stories, said The New York Times.  This worries some people.  UK scientist Stephen Hawking even said that the “development of AI could mean the end of humans”.

This is not the first time that AlphaGo has beaten a human.  In March 2016, it beat top player Lee Se-dol (李世石)from South Korea.  That was the first time AlphaGo beat a human, And this January, it won 60 matches against top humanplayers from China, South Korea and Japan.

  • 27、   Here is a story: A man sees a butterfly(蝴蝶). The butterfly tries to get out of its chrysalis(). Feeling sorry for it, the man decides to help. He cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. Surprisingly enough, the butterfly is unable to fly. If the butterfly doesn't struggle(挣扎,奋斗) to leave the chrysalis, it can't fly! The struggle develops the energy in the butterfly which makes it fly. Similarly, the challenges of life ring out the best in young people and make them fly.

When people are young, meeting and overcoming challenges will make them strong and ready to face life. When we look at successful people, we see that the most successful of them are people who have had to struggle. One famous businessman, who now owns many big supermarkets, used to carry clothes on his back and sell them from door to door when he was young. Another successful man is Dennis. His father died when he was only twenty. His father's death forced him to mature fast. He had to bring up a family of nine people. He took up the challenges and overcame(克服) them. Today his brothers and sisters are leading successful lives.

Sometimes challenges do not appear to us because we keep away from them. So some parents and teachers actively encourage young people to face challenges. They might organize some activities for young people which provide them with challenges, like rock-climbing, camping volunteer work and so on. However, just passing exams will not prepare a person for life. We must meet and overcome challenges. The young people of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. For countries to continue to become successful, it is important that the young people learn to meet challenges and overcome them.

1From the story we know that the butterfly can’t fly because _______.

A.it gets out by itself B.the man feels sorry for it

C.the man helps it come out D.it tries to challenge itself

2Dennis's example shows that successful people should ________.

A.take up business early B.overcome the difficulties

C.become the leaders of tomorrow D.sell clothes from door to door

3The meaning of the underlined word "mature" in the passage is _____.

    A.wake up B.grow up C.give up D.bring up

4What does the writer want to express in this passage?

A.Describe where a butterfly comes from. B.Explain what will happen if a person fails the exam.

C.Suggest how to become a successful businessman. D.Encourage young people to face challenges.
