4. Sometimes your effort may end up driving yourself mad. If so,asking for help is necessary and of great importance. No one is expected to learn something well without difficulties. When we find learning English hard, turn to others in time. And we are supposed to work with other English learners to support each other and encourage each other. 5. 此外,我们可以尽可能多参加社会活动。 For example, we can be voluntary guides to help foreign visitors, which is a chance to practice English.

25、During all this time, I never stopped thinking about leaving. When I travelled across to the other side of the island, I could see the other islands, and I said to myself, “Perhaps I can get there with a boat. Perhaps I can get back to England one day.”
So I decided to make myself a boat. I cut down a big tree, and then began to make a long hole in it. It was hard work, but about six months later, I had a very fine canoe(独木舟). Next, I had to get it down to the sea. How silly I was! Why didn’t I think carefully before I began to work? Of course, the canoe was too heavy. I couldn’t move it! I pulled and pushed and tried everything, but it didn’t move. I was very unhappy for a long time after that.
In my sixth year on the island, I did make myself a smaller canoe, but I did not try to leave in it. The boat was too small for a long journey, and I did not want to die at sea. The island was my home now, and I was just happy to be alive. A year or two later, I made myself a second canoe on the other side of the island. I also built myself a second house there, and so I had two homes.
I kept food and tools at both of my houses, and also wild goats. There were many goats on the island, and I made fields with high fences to keep them in. They learned to take food from me, and soon I had goats’ milk to drink every day. I also worked hard in my corn fields. And so, many years went by.

26、I have read plenty of articles about self-improvement these past few months, and most of them tell you that you need to wake up and keep positive(积极的). When you wake up, you need to think that something great is going to happen today.
This kind of positive attitude(态度)is supposed to change your whole day. So this morning, I woke up and decided to give it a whirl. The sun was shining brightly through my bedroom window, and it gave me this warm feeling inside. I thought to myself, “Today is going to be a great day.” I got out of bed, took a shower and got dressed. I put on a pair of dress pants I have not worn in a while, followed by my shirt and that is when it began. I reached into my left pocket and pulled out what felt like some paper.
You know that feeling of finding a $20 bill in your pants and it feels like free money? Because you forgot all about it and thought you never did? I pulled out a $100 bill and a $50 bill in the same pocket. It seems like the best thing that have happened to me these days. Yes. $150 starts off my day! I shouted in joy, with my poor dog looking at me like I was crazy!

27、Did you know that vocabulary is more important than grammar? If you have good vocabulary, you can communicate successfully, even if the grammar is not completely perfect.
However, one common problem is learning new words and then forgetting them. So when you want to use a new word in a conversation, you can’t remember it at that moment. Does this often happen to you? The reason for this difficulty is that most students try to learn vocabulary by studying lists and dictionaries and remembering the words. But it may not work if you don’t have a very good memory.
The best way to learn vocabulary and remember the words well, is to learn new words and use them at once.
You can do this with a very simple exercise. Every time you learn a new word, for example, from an English lesson or an article, write it down in your vocabulary notebook. Writing is more active than just reading a definition. You should write the word, the definition in English or translation, one example sentence from the article or dictionary and one example sentence that you create.
Imagine you just learn the word “generous”, write in your vocabulary notebook: generous (adjective), definition—giving or willing to give freely. Example one, from the article: Thanks for paying for my dinner, you’re very generous. Example two, my example: My brother is generous because he volunteers at the animal shelter on weekends. It’s best if your example sentences are true to your life, because this creates a personal connection with the new word. The next day, read your vocabulary notebook again and try to add one more example sentence using the new word. It’s helpful for you to remember it. These two simple steps—writing the word and using it at once—help you remember and use new words.
Do you have a vocabulary notebook? If not, start now.
【1】What’s the correct order of the following steps of taking vocabulary notes?
①Make your own example sentence.

C.②③①④
