一、翻译题 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 1、阅读下面的短文,将划线部分译成英文或中文。

Yang Peijie, 71, has been performing Haian flower-drum dances(海安花鼓)for more than fifty years.

The Haian flower-drum dance dates back to more than 400 years. It became popular in the areas of the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). 1. 在过去,它被用来展现当地人们的生活。“It’s more gentle compared to flower-drum dances in other places such as in Anhui and Hunan, ” Yang said. Many of its dance steps came from daily life and express positive feelings. For example, fengbailiu (风摆柳) means you have to twist (弯曲) your body like the wind blowing willow trees.

Yang started to learn the dance from old artists in the 1960s. At that time, people could only learn it this way. There were no textbooks. 2. Worrying it might get lost, Yang spent five years studying the history of the dance and recorded its steps in detail. He visited almost all the local artists and wrote a book about it.

           3. In recent years, Yang has kept on spreading the dance among all age groups. He set up a team to work on this. The team members have visited about eight schools to teach students. It has been combined (结合)with break-time exercises in many schools. 4. To interest kids, they separate difficult dance steps into several simple ones. Xu Hongxuan, a pupil from Haian Elementary School said, “I have been practicing it for three years. I think it’s more interesting than the radio gymnastic exercises(广播体操). We beat drums to the music in all kinds of ways. Some dance steps are difficult, 5. 但当我掌握了它们之后,我感到开心和自豪。 Now I am a member of the flowerdrum dance club. ”

Besides schools, Yang and the team members also go to communities and parks to teach older people. “I don’t want to see the art fail to be passed down from me, ” Yang said.

四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、My brother and I were driving home together and started talking. Because of this, my brother took a wrong turn (转弯).

Unluckily, the wrong turn took us toward a bridge, and we had no way of turning back. My brother had to pay $4 to cross the bridge. He was clearly frustrated by the mistake.

As we drove forward, my brother noticed a car pulled over to the side of the road. A young man was standing nearby and trying to phone someone. I was busy trying to find out which way we went next, but my brother pulled over and asked the man if he needed any help. And he did. He had a flat tire (漏气轮胎).

My brother helped him change the flat. He said that this had been a bad week for him. Earlier he had a car accident, and now this flat on his way home from work. But he called us “a breath of fresh air” and kept thanking us. After we changing the flat, he thanked us again and pulled out $20 and tried to give it to us. “No,” my brother said. “We shouldn’t get on that bridge. We took a wrong turn. But now we know why we did. It was to help you. Thank you for turning our mistake into a chance to help you.”

What I loved most was watching my brother during this process. He was able to turn his bad mood over the mistake into positive (积极的) energy. He was able to see a chance to help even in a bad situation. That was the bridge we were supposed to cross.

When I was a teenager I volunteered to pass out water at a local race. I was so excited to see all the different runners who passed by and quickly took a cup of water. Some ran past, some walked past and a few wheeled past.

I saw so many types of people doing it. I thought maybe I could do it too! The next year I decided to run for the race, but I had little running practice. I just wanted to finish.

On the day of the race, it was terribly hot. After running for about 5 miles, I was thinking, “I must be crazy. Why did I do this? What was I thinking?” And at one moment, I said to myself, “I am never doing this again!”

That first 10 km race was quite an experience. I jogged(慢跑), I walked, I jogged and walked. At times, I didn’t know if I could finish.
