  • 24、   Double Ninth Festival in China is celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar(农历)every year. And it is also known as Chongyang Festival.

Traditionally, it's a time when the family get together to climb hills, drink chrysanthemum wines(菊花酒), eat Chongyang cakes, and wear cornels(茱萸). However, those activities are only one part of the story. The day is also seen as a chance to care for the elderly.

  • 25、Do you have sleeping problems? Is it hard for you to remember or pay attention in class? Do you easily get angry? If your answer is yes, you may be under stress.

Stress is a normal physical response (反应) to things that make people feel worried. In China, 70 percent of the 2,000 students about to take the college or high school entrance examination are under high stress, according to a recent survey by Wuhan University of Hubei province.

Sometimes stress is good for people. It pushes people to do their best, like while getting ready before a big competition or exam. However, too much or long-term stress makes people feel a stress overload (负荷过多), and affects people’s health.

When you feel stressed, there are some ways you can deal with (处理) it. Learning to solve small problems in everyday life is helpful. It can help build confidence to move on to life’s bigger ones. Try saying positive things to yourself, like “I will do the best that I can,” or “I can manage this if I take one step at a time.” That encourages you to work toward your goal. It is also important to relax sometimes.

But if you are under high stress and can’t handle it by yourself, it is also good to ask parents or friends for help. Everyone has stress. Don’t be too shy to tell others that you are having a hard time. They may comfort you or give you some useful advice. You may feel better just from sharing your problems with them.

1You may be under stress if you are in the following situation EXCEPT___.

    A. you get angry easily

    B. you can’t get up in the morning.

    C. you can’t pay attention in class.

2Who did a survey about stress in middle school students recently?

    A. Wuhan University

    B. Hubei University

    C. Wuhan Technology University

3In what way is stress good for people?

    A. it can keep people wake at night.

    B. it makes people do well in exams.

    C. it pushes people to do their best.

4How many ways of dealing with stress are discussed in the passage?

    A.2   B. 3 C.4

5Why should we ask parents or friends for help if we are under high stress?

    A. because they can solve our problems.

    B. because they must give us useful advice.

    C. because sharing our problems can make us feel better.

  • 29、Many people enjoy taking trips by themselves. Unluckily, they do not always have the best _______. So, instead of traveling alone, people should consider group tours. Taking a group tour is a wise choice for people to enjoy themselves.

First, group tours plan travellers’ routes, so people don’t have to _______ where they are going next or how they are getting there. They can just _______ and enjoy their trip. For example, my family once took a group tour to Thailand. The travel agency _______ everything for us. We just looked at the schedule that the travel agency had _______ and followed it. Thanks to the travel agency, we had a pleasant trip. This made things easier for my father since he didn’t have to worry about where we would go next and stay at night.

Another _______ of group tours is that they allow people to communicate with one another while travelling. Travellers are able to develop friendships with people they would never have met because they are travelling together for a number of days. As I know, my parents visited Singapore on a group tour for their honeymoon. They met another _______ on that trip, and everyone had a great time together. Even after many years they still travel together from time to time. If my parents had travelled by themselves, it would have been _______ for them to get to know this couple.

In short, there is _______ better than a group tour when travelling. Group tours schedule everything on the trip, and they give us the chance to meet others and make friends with them. Therefore, group tours are the ________ way to travel when taking a trip.
