四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   Recently,my students couldn't get on well with each other,so I decided to have them play a game. I told each student to bring a plastic bag with a few tomatoes in it to school. Each student would "name" their tomatoes after the people they did not like. Therefore, the number of tomatoes would be different depending on how many people each student disliked.

The next day,all of the students brought their tomatoes to school. Some of them had just one or two tomatoes, while others had as many as five or six. I then told the students that they would have to carry their tomatoes with them wherever they went for one week.

Several days went by. Some of the students started to complain,as their tomatoes started to rot (腐烂) and smell bad. The students who carried more tomatoes also complained about how heavy their bags were.

One week later, the game was over. I asked,"How did you feel about carrying your tomatoes for a week?"

The students complained once again. I simply smiled and said,"This is what it's like to carry hate in your heart. You have to carry "it" with you wherever you go. If you can't stand carrying rotten tomatoes for one week, can you imagine having hate in your heart for a whole lifetime?"

It can be exhausting to carry hate in your heart for a whole lifetime. Forgive others and move on with your life.

1The number of tomatoes the students were asked to carry depended on __________.

A.the size of the tomatoes B.the name of the tomatoes

C.the weight of the tomatoes D.the number of the people they hated

2What does the underlined word "it" in Paragraph 5 refer to?

    A.The student. B.Hate. C.Heart. D.The tomato.

3Why did the students start to complain after several days?

    A.Because the game was over.

    B.Because they hated the tomatoes.

C.Because the tomatoes started to rot and smell bad.

D.Because carrying tomatoes made them look stupid.

4What is the writer's opinion in the passage?

A.Learn from the people you like. B.Stand the hate as long as you can.

C.Think more about the people you like. D.Forgive others and make your heart light.

  • 26、Last year, I worked in a middle school near my mother’s house, and I stayed with her for a month. During that time, I helped her do some housework and buy some food. After the first week, I noticed that the food was eaten up very quickly. Then I began keeping an eye on my mom.

To my surprise, I found that she would put some of the food into a paper bag and go out with it at about nine every morning. And finally, I decided to follow her. I saw her taking the food to the street children. She would also spend a lot of time talking and playing with them.

One day, I talked to a neighbor and found out that my mom was well-known in the area. The children were very friendly with her and even thought of her as their own mother. Then it hit me—why wouldn’t she want to tell me about it? Was she worried that I would stop buying food if I found out?

When my mom got home, I gave her a big hug. I told her she didn’t need to keep it a secret from me. And she told me something about the children. Some of them lived with an old lady in a small house. Others slept on the street. For years, she was helping the poor street children by giving them food. After she told me everything, I was so moved by how selfless (无私的) she was. She helped others in need. As her son, I was so proud of my mom.

  • 27、   Dolphins are our friends. They can use tools to solve problems although they don’t have hands. For example, scientists have ever found that a dolphin can make a shy eel (鳗鱼)  come out of the hole with a dead fish.

Dolphins use different sounds to get or give information. Scientists in Hawaii have developed a sign language to give instructions to dolphins, and the results are amazing. They find that dolphins not only understand the meaning of some words, but also understand the importance of word order in a sentence.

Most animals enjoy playing, but dolphins seem to like making their games as exciting as possible. On a beautiful day in 1997, scientists at a beach watched a little dog going into the sea and swimming towards the dolphins. To their surprise, the dolphins came up to the dog and then started throwing it into the air. The dog seemed to enjoy the “game” and continued playing with the dolphins for more than an hour.

Dolphins live in a very different world from ours, but they are very good at our “IQ tests”. For example, they will jump out of the water when they hear a whistle from the keeper. They do this because they will get a fish as a prize.

There is still much to learn about these cute problem-solvers, but it is sure that watching a dolphin show is fun.

1What can a dolphin use to make an eel come out of the hole?

A.A small mouse. B.A dead cat. C.A dead fish. D.A little dog.

2How do dolphins get and give information?

A.By using tails. B.By using tools. C.By using words. D.By using sounds.

3Where did the dolphins throw the dog when playing?

A.Onto its back. B.Into the air. C.Onto the beach. D.Into the water.

4What does the underlined word “whistle” mean in Chinese?

    A.音量 B.音速 C.口哨 D.音标

5Which is the main idea according to the passage?

A.Dolphins can understand many languages. B.Dolphins are a kind of clever animals.

C.Scientists have known dolphins well enough. D.Dolphins can make their games relaxing.
