24、 Have you ever had the flu(流感)? If you have, you know how bad it can make you feel. The flu virus is spread(传播) from person to person in the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The flu virus attacks the body’s cells and changes into different forms. That is why people who have received the flu shot(流感疫苗接种) may still get ill with the flu. There are 3 types of the flu:
◆Type A viruses can infect people, birds, pigs, horses, seals, whales and other animals, such as avian flu or bird flu.
◆Type B viruses infect people and result in smaller outbreaks(爆发). People infected with type B viruses are often sent to hospital with higher death rates.
◆Type C viruses cause mild illness in humans without the onset of an epidemic(流行病).
Most people are familiar with the symptoms(症状) of the flu such as cough and fever, but they can be mistaken for a common cold. Most kids will get the flu during their school years. For most kids, the flu comes and goes, but for some, it can be a serious illness. Most kids get the flu in winter because germs(细菌) spread more easily when kids are always in the classroom.
The best way to stop from getting the flu is to wash your hands often, keep your hands to yourself, and go to your doctor for the flu shot(注射) or mist(喷雾). If you have the flu, get plenty of bed rest and drink lots of fluids. Most people recover from the flu in one to two weeks. 25、What keeps us healthy and happy as we go through life? What if we could study people from the time when they were teenagers all the way to their old age to find the answer?
The Harvard Study of Adult Development may be the longest study of adult life that has ever been done. Since 1938, we have tracked the lives of 724 men, year after year, asking about their work, home lives, health, and other aspects (方面). With good luck and the hard work of several generations of researchers, this study has survived. About 60 of the original 724 men are still alive, still taking part in the study.
The clearest message that we get from this study is: Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. Over these years, our study has shown that the people who fared best were the people who leaned into relationships, with family, with friends, and with the community.
We’ve learned three big lessons about relationships. First, social connections are really good for us, and loneliness kills. It turns out that people who are more socially connected to others are happier, physically healthier, and live longer than people who are less well connected. Second, the quality of your close relationships matters. Living in the midst of conflict is really bad for our health. Third, good relationships don’t just protect our bodies, but also our brains.
The answer is clear: The good life is built with good relationships. But it’s not easy to have good relationships. Relationships are messy, complicated (复杂的) and hard work. Building good relationships is also a lifelong task. It never ends.
【1】What can we learn about the study?
A.It is about adult development.
B.Most of the 724 men were born in the 1930s.

B.Close relationships
C.Bad relationships
D.Good relationships
【3】How many big lessons have they learned about relationships?
A.Four.
B.Three.
C.Five.
D.One.
【4】What does the author suggest to us?
A.Staying away from messy relationships.
B.Building up good relationships with others.
C.Working hard to solve health problems.
D.Trying to live a long and happy life.
26、 Have you ever read the novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland? When British writer Lewis Carroll chopped Alice down the rabbit hole in 1865, he had no way of knowing what it would lead to (how popular it would be). The girl and her friends in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland have become well-known around the world. More than 100 versions of the book have been published. More than two dozen adaptations (改编) of the story have been made into movies. Millions of people are fascinated by the story and the characters in it.
Why have Mice and her friends kept us fascinated with them for so long? Why is the story so attractive?
One reason is that many people think the 7-year-old girl is our inner child. She is the child that we ever dreamed to be. Alice is the center of the book. She's brave, curious and always wants to move ahead to the next adventure. When she meets problems or even is attacked, she never once thinks of asking her parents for help. Instead, she tries to solve the problem in her own way. Maybe this can explain why the story is so welcomed by kids and teenagers. Because nowadays, they have been overprotected by their parents and can't live in a world of their own. Alice is the child they really want to be.
Besides, the attractive setting in the book is another reason. The story is set in an imaginative world. Many things that don't exist in the real world can be found in the story. In the book, Alice can be 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and stand up on her tiptoes. She even finds a blue caterpillar smoking on a mushroom. Kids and teenagers are really attracted by the strange and imaginative world in the story.
The wonderland world makes us connect Alice's adventures with our own childhood. No matter how old you are, there is always a child living in your heart.
