26、 I was seventeen years old and I just came to the Junior High. It seemed that I would have difficulties finishing high school because I was a troubled teenager. However, one person came into my life quietly and then totally changed everything.
The first year in my school, Mr. Brown taught me history. He was quite different from the other teachers I had known. But I had to say that he was indeed a great teacher.
One day, Mr. Brown called me aside and asked why I was a B student in his class but a C student in the rest of my classes. I passionately told him about my divorced parents, the local gangs, the drugs, the fights, the police—all of the evil things I had experienced. It was then that Mr. Brown patiently explained that the only person responsible for my situation was me. And the only person with the potential to change my situation was me. He told me that I failed not because I was a failure. He inspired me to become a better student.
Ten years later, I was preparing to graduate from a university. The first person coming to my mind was him. So I tried to reach him and wanted to tell him that I really wished him to come to witness this important moment together with me.
I'll never forget his response. He said. " Who is this again?"
At that moment, I came to realize that I was just one of hundreds of the students whose lives were changed by him but he had no idea of his influence.
Mr. Brown never came to my graduation, but his absence taught me another valuable lesson. His final lesson for me was that we will never know or understand the influence we have on other people's lives. And he also taught me that we all have the opportunity to affect people's lives for the better ... or for the worse.

27、 We were flying from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. when I found young mother struggling with her baby. Everything was a mess, and the mother, who was near hysterics(溃), told me she had no more diapers(尿布)or other clothing onboard the plane.
Through her tears, she informed me that they had missed their flight the previous night in Los Angeles and she and her son had spent the night on the airport floor. With the saddest eyes I had ever seen, she told me she was on her way to New Hampshire to send her son to the family that was adopting him. She could no longer support him.
As a mother of three, I could see her despair and feel her pain. I immediately rang the flight attendant call button and asked for help from the other flight attendants. They brought towels to help clean up both mom and the baby. I gave the mom my sweater and a pair of pants since we were about the same size. Then I asked several passengers with babies if they could spare extra diapers, formula (奶粉) and clothes for the baby. After the young mother and her son had changed their clothes and the baby had gone to sleep, I sat with her, holding her hand, trying to provide some support for the rest of the flight.
Once we landed, I walked them to their next flight, which would take them their final destination. As she thanked me for all I had done she said softly, "You' re not the flight attendant, you're a sky angel.”
Though I no longer work on the plane, I still recall that young woman, and the gift that she gave me on that special day -that we truly are all spiritual beings traveling in human form.
