26、 Age plays a major part in people who are infected with cold, i. e, in people who suffer from cold infection. A study done by University of Michigan has shown information that seems to be true for the general population. Babies are the most cold infected group, generally more than six colds in their first year. Boys have more colds than girls up to the age of three. After three, girls are easier to get infected with cold than boys, and teenage girls get three colds a year to boys' two. The general cold infections continue to get less into adults. Elderly people who are in good health have as few as one or two colds every year. One interesting thing is found among people in their twenties, especially women, who show a rise in cold infection , because people in this age group are most likely to have young children.
The study has also found that economy plays an important role as well. With more and more income, the frequency at which colds are reported in the family is getting lower and lower. Families with the lowest income usually live in rooms more crowded than rooms owned by richer people, and the crowding usually leads to more chances for the cold virus to travel from person to person. Low income may also have an effect on our diet. Many scientists believe that a poorer diet usually leads into more possibilities of cold infection.

Warm Colors
Bright red, orange, and yellow are warm colors, and they stimulate excitement. In fact, all advertisements and menus of fast food chains feature these colors.Warm colors are some of the best colors for advertising food as they are known to increase the appetite.
A color scheme that includes warm colors also encourages people to stay longer. These colors stimulate warmth and comfort, and when people relax over dinner, they are more likely to enjoy a dessert or a cup of coffee, thus spending more money.
Cool Colors
Besides knowledge and understanding, some shades of blue are also associated with quiet. As a result, blue can actually slow a person's heart rate (比率)and reduce appetite, which is why it's not often chosen for restaurant advertising. On the other hand, blue is one of the best colors for advertising medicine and other health products. 29、It's easy to imagine the Sahara as a lifeless and timeless place, where the merciless forces of nature rule over any sense of human history. However, that’s far from the truth. Some corners of the Western Sahara, found along the northwestern coast of Africa, are littered with hundreds of ancient stone monuments from centuries worth of human culture, some of which date back to over 10,000 years ago.
Between 2002 and 2009, the Western Sahara Project, led by the University of East Anglia in the UK, documented the archaeology(考古学) and environment of northwestern Sahara around the town of Tifariti. The monuments come in a variety of forms and were constructed by a number of different cultures across the centuries. Many appear to be little more than long rows of piled rocks, while others are purposefully placed large stones standing proudly in a circular pattern. Others are 5-meter-high (16 feet) dry stone wall constructions that could have only been built by human hands.
It’s unclear what most of the monuments are meant to represent, although most are assumed to be burial mounds(墓冢), used as part of a funerary ceremony, or sign at the presence of a grave. This desire to construct burial mounds is something that can be found in countless cultures across the planet, from the Scythians of ancient Siberia to the sea-faring Vikings of northern Europe, and it looks like the ancient people of Western Sahara were not different.
For one reason or another, this natural basin area managed to remain a place of human activity over the millennia, especially when times became tough in the surrounding areas. "One of our theories is that as the Sahara dried between five and six thousand years ago—this is one of the refugia(避难所), an area where water remained," Joanne Clarke, prehistoric archaeologist at the University of East Anglia, told Atlas Obscura.
【1】How were the monuments constructed?
A.They are in different shapes.
B.They are piled up on one another.
C.They took about 500 years to complete.
D.Most of them are parallel to each other.
【2】What will the researchers probably focus on about the monuments in future?
A.The way to build burial mounds.
B.The symbols of different monuments.
C.The original appearances of the monuments.
D.Their difference between the Sahara and other regions.
【3】What does Joanne Clarke think of the Sahara in history?
A.It was the mere source of water in that area.
B.It used to be a shelter from sufferings for people.
C.People used to hold various activities in its honor.
D.It shouldn’t have dried five and six thousand years ago.
【4】What can be the best title of the text?
A.The Sahara used to be a heaven for every culture.
B.The Sahara is really a lifeless and timeless place.
C.The burial bounds represent different cultures in the Sahara.
D.The Western Sahara is covered with mysterious ancient stone monuments.

In Times of Crists, We Need Classical Music
It’s still lying in front of me on my desk. The booklet, entitled Time for Outrange(愤怒) , was written by the 93-year-old French diplomat(外交官) Stephane Hessel. “The power of money,” Hessel says, filled with anger, “has never been as great and selfish and 【1】 as it is now.”
But what does the outrage of this Frenchman have to do with classical music and , ultimately, with me, music director of the Orchestre Symphenique de Montreal(蒙特利尔交响乐团) ?
A lot, I, too, am outraged by the direction of industrial society, with materialism and consumerism leading the way. I want to show that, because of its powerful impact, classical music can play a(n) 【2】 role right now.
We all sense that our society is experiencing an almost revolutionary 【3】. Life is getting faster, competition is fiercer and social cohesion(凝聚力) is reducing. Like most people, I have no idea how liberty and civil rights would develop in the era of globalization and ever-evolving technological advancement.
But I see this as an opportunity for a(n) 【4】 to classical music. The great symphonies of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven are not museum pieces we should listen to only if we want to 【5】 ourselves with some music history. Now are they a decoration or a relaxation exercise for the quickened pace of life.
They are more than what a radio station for classical music once promised - “your oasis(绿洲) of well-being.” They are timeless compositions that 【6】 all the uncertainties and insecurities of this new period. They can support us in our search for meaning. Beethoven, for example, was convinced that man had the capacity to change for the better and to go throughout life. This is why there is so much hope in his music. His symphonies was mean to 【7】 people forward.
Classic music 【8】 our senses and emotions in such a way that we were thrown back onto ourselves. It 【9】 to listeners to make use of their own reason and reflect on their actions. Music’s sole purpose is to be experienced. That experience, in turn, is why music can change our perceptions(认知) of ourselves and thereby our interactions with others.
【10】 to explain this powerful impact of music will always remain unsatisfying, but this much is certain: aesthetic(审美的) experiences can transform people.

Elephants can tell
It is easy for us to tell our friends from our enemies. But can other animals do the same? Elephants can! They can use their sense of vision and smell to tell the difference between people who pose a threat and those who do not.
In Kenya, researchers found that elephants react differently to clothing worn by men of the Maasai and Kamba ethnic groups. Young Maasai men kill animals and thus pose a threat to elephants; Kamba men are mainly farmers and are not a danger to elephants.
In an experiment conducted by animal scientists, elephants were first presented with clean clothing or clothing that had been worn for five days by either a Maasai or a Kamba man. When the elephants recognized the smell of clothing worn by a Maasai man, they moved away from the smell faster and took longer to relax than when they recognized the smells of either clothing worn by a Kamba man or clothing that had not been worn at all.
Clothing color also plays a role, though in a different way. In the same study, when the elephants saw red clothing not worn before, they reacted angrily, as red is typically worn by Maasai men. Rather than running away as they did with the smell, the elephants acted aggressively(攻击性地) toward the red clothing.
The researchers believe that the elephants’ emotional reactions are because of their different understanding of the smells and the sights. Smelling a potential danger means that a threat is nearby and the best thing to do is run away and hide. Seeing a potential threat without its smell means that risk is low. Therefor, instead of showing fear and running away, the elephants express their anger and become aggressive.
