26、Want to travel easily? Here are some tips that help you reduce the size of your luggage.
Roll clothes instead of folding(折叠)them. Many people try to fold their clothes into their little suitcase. 【1】 Actually, It is more wise to roll your clothes rather than fold them. Starting from the bottom, roll up your clothes into very tightly packed cylinders(柱体)which you can put on top of each other.
Use vacuum bags(真空袋), when possible. 【2】 Buy some vacuum bags and seal all of your clothes up tightly. This will reduce the size of your items greatly and allow you to take more of what's needed.
Always take travel bottles. Even though you are allowed to take full sized bottles in your suitcase, to make sure that you are under the weight allowance, it's recommended that you still stick to travel-sized bottles. 【3】 Besides, it will also prevent you from wasting any product. If you do run out of anything while you are on holiday, you can always buy more.
【4】 If you do need to take a coat, you can wear it on the journey so you don't have to pack it in your suitcase. Another method you can use is wearing multiple layers(多层衣服)on the journey although this isn't always the most comfortable.
Research the weather in advance. A great way to prevent packing clothes that you won't end up wearing is to research what the weather is going to be like where and when you go on holiday.
【5】 You can know how hot it's likely going to be, as well as how much rain on average the destination receives each month.
A.It will free up enough room for you.

C.It will make your suitcase much lighter.
D.Purchase a high and soft-sided suitcase.
E.Wear anything that takes up a lot of room.
F.This is not the best way to pack your holiday goods.
G.There are plenty of websites offer weather information.
27、Dear Teenager self,
Oh, how I wish you could see what I see now. I’m older, and life has made me wiser. Nothing is the way I thought it would be, it’s so much better.
When I look back, I see you as one person but I know there were two of you:one that the world saw and the secret one that only you knew. I remember the nights and days filled with worry, sadness, and confusion(困惑). I remember being both of you. I remember the smile I would show to my friends and then I remember the tears no one knew that I cried behind my closed bedroom door.
Oh, how I wish I knew that everything would be okay someday. But I probably wouldn’t have believed it at the time.
Oh, how I remember those teenager years as the most painful years of my life. Living under a microscope(显微镜),everything was enlarged ,you think that whatever happens will stay that way forever. In fact , Nothing is farther from the truth.
Ever heard of Marcel Proust? He had a particularly painful life, but when he came to the end of it, looking back, he felt that the most painful things in his life were the best things in his life, because they made him who he was.

28、 This is my son Matthew's last night at home before college. I know that this is good news. I feel proud that Matthew will go to a great school. I know that this is the finest hour. But looking at the suitcases on his bed sends me out of the room to a hidden corner where I can't stop crying.
Through the sorrow, I feel a rising embarrassment. “Pull yourself together!” I tell myself. There are parents sending their kids off to battle zones. How dare I feel so shocked and upset?
One of the great gifts of my life has been having my boys, Matthew and John. Through them, I have explored the mysterious, complicated bond between fathers and sons. As My wife and I raised them, I have discovered the love and loss between my father and me. After my parents' divorce,I spent weekends with my dad in Ohio. By the time Sunday came around, I was unable to enjoy the day's activities because I was already afraid of the goodbye of the evening.
Now, standing among Matthew’s accumulation of possessions, I realize it's me who has become a boy again. All my sadness and longing to hold on to things are back, sweeping over me as they did when I was a child.
His bed is tidy and spare. It already has the feel of a guest bed. In my mind I replay wrapping him in his favorite blanket. That was our nightly routine until one evening he said,” Daddy,I don't think I need a blanket tonight.” I think of all the times we lay among the covers reading. I look at the bed and think of all the recent times I was annoyed at how late he was sleeping. I’ll never have to worry about that again, I realize.
For his part, Matthew has been a rock. He is treating his leaving as just another day at the office. And I'm glad. After all, someone’s got to be strong. I’m proud that he is charging into the first chapter of his adult life with such confidence.

29、 From December 1936 to March 1937, three archaeological(考古学的)diggings were earned out in the suburbs of Hangzhou, where loads of black ceramics and stoneware were brought to light.
Inspired by these relies(遗迹), an archaeology lover named Shi Xingeng, who came from West Lake Museum in Hangzhou, wrote several detailed reports on the diggings. However, he had to put his work aside when China started to fall into Japan's military aggression. He joined the resistance movement against Japanese invasion and died of disease in 1939. What passed away along with him during the war were many of Liangzhu's precious relics.
Fortunately, his reports were finally published in Shanghai in 1938, which caught considerable attention of archaeological circles. In 1959, the name Liangzhu Culture was given to the independent regional culture by archaeologist Xia Nai. It represented an earlier civilization between 3,300 and 2,200 B.C that had remained unknown to historians. It is commonly believed that the earliest known Chinese written language dates back to more than 3.000 years ago, when oracle bone script(甲骨文)appeared in Shang Dynasty. But Liangzhu Culture might provide evidence of a written language that appeared in China at least 1,000 years earlier.
In 2007, Liangzhu Ancient City was reported to be discovered in Hangzhou, where archaeological diggings revealed a large and early walled city in Chinese history. There were man-made hills and streams in the city area, which were very likely part of the early designed urban landscape. To protect the urban space which was formed by waterways and entrances both inside and outside the city, a flood control system was connected to the river networks and 11 dams. In the fields outside the wall, archaeologists discovered ruins of the residences, tombs, workshops, and docks with wooden boats.
