二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、   As computers become all the more popular in China, Chinese people are increasingly relying on computer keyboards to input Chinese characters. But if they use the computer too much, they may end up forgetting the exact strokes(笔画)of each Chinese character when writing on paper. Experts suggest people, especially students, write by hand more.

Do you write by hand more or type more? In Beijing, students start using a computer as early as primary school(小学). And computer dependence is more wide-spread among university students. Almost all their assignments and essays are typed on a computer.

All the students interviewed say they usually use a computer.

It's faster and easier to correct if using a computer. And that's why computers are being applied more and more often to modern education. But when people are taking stock in computers increasingly, problems appear.

"When I'm writing with a pen, I find I often can't remember how to write a character, though I feel I’m familiar with it."

"I'm not in the mood(状态) to write when faced with a pen and paper."

Many students don't feel this is something to worry about. Now that it's more convenient and efficient to write on a computer, why bother to handwrite?

Many educators think differently. Shi Liwei , the headmaster of a famous primary school in the capital said "Chinese characters enjoy both practical and aesthetic(审美的) value. But those characters typed with computer keyboards only maintain their practical value. All the artistic beauty of the characters is lost. And handwriting contains the writer's emotion. Through one's handwriting, people can get to know one's thinking and personality. Beautiful writing will give people a better first impression of them"

To encourage students to handwrite more, many primary schools in Beijing have made writing classes compulsory(必修的)and in universities, some professors are asking students to hand in their homework and essays written by hand.

1Which of the following can best serve as the title of the passage?

A.The Importance of Handwriting and Typing.

B.To Type or To Hand Write

C.Writing By Computer Will Replace Writing By Hand

D.Practical and Aesthetic Value of Chinese Characters.

2The students interviewed prefer to write using a computer mainly because______.

A.they are usually asked to e-mail their Homework and Essays

B.they can correct the mistakes they make quickly and conveniently

C.they find it not easy to remember how to write a character

D.computers have become a trend and fashion in China.

3Which of the following statements is NOT TRUE of the advantages of handwriting?

    A.Handwriting contains the writer's emotion.

B.The writer’s thinking and personality are shown in his or her handwriting,

C.Handwriting can impress people well and build one’s self-confidence

D.Chinese characters enjoy both practical and aesthetic value.

4The underlined expression “taking stock in”(Paragraph 4) probably means_____.

A.getting bored with B.getting dependent on

C.becoming crazy about D.getting curious about

  • 27、   Many expressions that we use in American English come from novels Today we will look at some of them from Lewis Carroll's famous novel "Alice in Wonderland" in detail

The story is about a young girl falling down a rabbit hole When she finally lands she finds herself in a strange world and meets some strange characters

The first character Alice meets is the White Rabbit who runs past her and says some strange wordsAlice chases(追赶)him and that is where her adventures begin

In English chasing a white rabbit means chasing an impossible clue and finding yourself in a misleading situation

Then as she runs after the rabbit she falls down the rabbit hole into Wonderland

To fall down the rabbit hole can mean to enter a confusing(令人困惑的)situation However usually we use this expression to mean we get interested in something to the point of distraction(分神). It often happens by accident and is about something not that meaningful

Later in the story Alice meets the March Hare and the Hatter at a crazy tea party Hares(野兔)have long been thought to behave excitedly in March which is their mating(交配)season Scientifically this may not be true But to be mad as a March Hare means that someone is completely mad or crazy The expression mad as a Hatter also means to be completely crazy Of the two mad as a Hatter is more common But don't tell the March Hare Who knows how he will react(反应)!

  • 28、   To be happy is the pursuit(追求) of any normal human being. Compared to sadness, happiness produces an atmosphere of joy and strength that sustains and energizes(使精力充沛)us. To be happy at work, to be harpy at play and to be happy in our homes are feelings that all of us desire. 【1】. Here are four truths that I believe will clearly define it for you.

    【2】

I have seen happier people in an African village hut with a dirt floor than someone I knew who lives in a multi-dollar mansion(公馆). It's a fact that having things, having talent, having money and having all the trappings will not necessarily be equal to happiness in your life.

Happiness comes from what we use

By simply deciding to be happy, no matter what you find yourself doing at the time, you will be led to only one thing---happiness. 【3】. It's not what I do that has been my greatest source of happiness. It has been using what I have at the time with knowledge and understanding.

Happiness comes from what we believe

When I have to do things that may not necessarily fit my dream list of activities, I try to be happy by focusing on my own personal dream for my future, recognizing that the current task I may be doing is simply a vehicle that is carrying me to my destination. 【4】. By approaching the summers, winters, autumns and springs of our life with a positive attitude. happiness will then be our companion through the coldest morning, the sunniest afternoon, or the darkest night.

Happiness comes from what we choose.

Choice is a great word. I owned and operated a cleaning business. I had the choice to either approach each dirty house with a smile or a frown. 【5】. Two outcomes were presented to me---a place transformed into a property that shone in a state of cleanliness, which filled me with a healthy sense of pride, and the financial reward received for a job well done.

A.There are four seasons in a year.

B.But how do we find this happiness?

C.Satisfaction was gained by focusing on the result of each completed cleaning task

D.Take time to develop a state of “dissatisfied satisfaction” that moves you forward.

    E.Life is filled with seasons.

F.Happiness doesn’t come from what we have.

G.I have experienced happiness cleaning toilets, writing and publishing books

  • 29、   Have you heard about “Survival Holidays”? It is for children to go into the lonely place for exciting activities. Now about 1,100 companies are allowed to take children into the great outdoors without their parents.
