27、 Brothers Ayaan and Mickey Naqvi, who live in Shelton, Connecticut, were decorating their family Christmas tree last year when one of their favorite ornaments(装饰品)was destroyed. While the ornament was beyond repair, from its broken pieces sprang a bright idea: What if there was a better way to hang ornaments so they’d be truly secure? From that, the Ornament Anchor(装饰锚)was born.
Using a special system, Ayaan created the model and presented it for a school project. The reception(反响)was overwhelmingly favorable-so favorable in fact, the boys quickly turned their invention into a potential money-making product.
This wasn’t the boys’ first commercial invention: A previous invention landed the pair and their family on a TV programme Shark Tank. While they didn’t cut a deal, it was a true learning experience.
From $1,000 in sales in six hours at a local Christmas trade show, the Ornament Anchor went on to be displayed on Good Morning America. In one year, the brothers’ invention has brought in more than $250,000.
After their success, Ayaan and Mickey are determined to pay their good fortune forward by contributing 10% of their profits to local animal shelters. “Ever since I was super young, I’ve had a fascination with all of life’s creatures,” Ayaan explained. “My goal is to help as many animals in need as I can.”
The boys admit that starting a new business in 2020 had its challenges. While they are enjoying their success, adjusting to distance learning due to the coronavirus lockdown isn’t easy.
Through the difficult times, they say they’ve just tried to take things one step at a time and keep a positive attitude because that-along with the love and support of their family-are what keeps them anchored(稳定).

28、What is the best sport for your body type?
Just because someone has dreamt of playing football from childhood does not mean it is the best sport for him or her. Finding the sport your body is best suited to can make a big difference to how much you enjoy it and how good at it you are.
A person with an ectomorph body type is tall and slim with little fat or muscle. This person has narrow shoulders and hips, and thin arms and legs. Ectomorphs have difficulty putting on weight because of a fast metabolism (新陈代谢). 【1】 . What suits ectomorphs is endurance sports. Marathon running, swimming, and football are excellent choices for them. 【2】 , basketball may also be a great option.
Mesomorph body types are the typical image of an athlete. Their arms and legs are muscular and they have broad shoulders and narrow hips. Mesomorphs can put on or lose weight easily and build muscle quickly. 【3】 . Possibilities range from weightlifting and boxing to cycling for shorter distances.
A person who is an endomorph naturally carries more body fat. They are often short, with a high waist, and well developed upper arms and thighs. 【4】 , they can be very good at power sports because of their larger mass. This body type is not suited for agility (敏捷) and speed, but strength activities like wresting or powerlifting can be a great fit.
It is important to note that the three body types are extremes. No one is 100% ectomorph or completely endomorph. 【5】 . Another key point is that diet and environment also contribute to athletic ability and genetics plays a large part. And the most important thing is to choose a sport you enjoy.

29、ADAPTIVE ACTION SPORTS
Adaptive Action Sports was founded in 2005 by Amy Purdy and Daniel Gale.
Amy Purdy was an active snowboarder, until she lost both her legs to bacterial meningitis(脑脊膜炎). She spent three months in the hospital fighting for her life, and doctors gave her a less than two percent chance of survival. Because of meningitis Amy lost circulation in both her legs, and when she came out of the hospital she had prosthetic legs(义肢). When she lost her legs, Amy knew she would be active again, but didn’t know how or when. She struggled to be active on her new legs, and a little over two years after her amputation(截肢) she entered the USASA (United States of America Snowboard Association) National Snowboarding Competition and won medals in three events.
Amy was at an adaptive snowboard workshop in 2002 when she met Daniel Gale. They immediately formed a connection through their enthusiasm for snowboarding, music, and art. Amy’s biggest struggle had been obtaining information on how to start snowboarding again with prosthetic legs, and she and Daniel both saw the need to help others like Amy. They “wanted to create something, a place, a forum, an organization that would enable individuals to find and participate in their enthusiasms without a struggle. Adaptive Action Sports was born.”
Their dream was to help athletes with permanent physical disabilities compete in action sports. Adaptive Action Sports holds camps, clinics, and events to create programs and opportunities for these individuals.
Since 2000, the USASA has provided opportunities for adaptive athletes to compete in snowboarding competitions. In 2007, the USASA Competition had 17 adaptive athletes compete, the largest number of adaptive athletes in adaptive athlete competition history. Although many competitors were still injured, they recovered quickly and showed how hard they are willing to push themselves.
