21、Some people believe that dreams can tell them what will happen in the future. Nobody knows why, but there are many stories about people who have had dreams that came true. One of these people was a man called John Chapman, who lived in the small town of Swaffham in England. He dreamed that he was standing on London bridge and a man told him how to become rich. John Chapman was a poor man and he needed money, so the next day he set off for London. He walked for three days and three nights and at last arrived at London Bridge. There were plenty of people on the bridge, but they were not interested in him. They all ignored him. After three days, he decided to go home, but before he could do this, a shopkeeper approached him.
“I’ve been watching you,” the shopkeeper said. “Are you waiting for someone?”
“Yes,” said John. “I had a dream about a man on London Bridge. He was going to lead me to a lot of money.”
“Oh,” said the shopkeeper. “You shouldn’t believe in dreams. If I believed in dreams, I’d be in Swaffham right now. I had a dream a few days ago about a man from Swaffham. His name was John Chapman and he had gold in his garden near an old apple tree.”
John was amazed and immediately headed for home. As soon as he arrived, he dug in his garden near the old apple tree. He soon found many pieces of gold. He was so delighted that he gave some of the gold to his local church. He was a rich man for the rest of his life.

22、 He creates fantasy worlds with witches (女巫), floating castles and flying pigs. He is Hayao Miyazaki, also known as “Japan’s Walt Disney”.
In 2016, the 75-year-old returned to make Boro the Caterpillar (《毛毛虫菠萝》), a computer-generated (CG) short movie, into a feature film.
“Miyazaki … will keep making films until he dies”, Toshio Suzuki, an experienced producer at Studio Ghibli, told Variety magazine. For Boro, Miyazaki, who has always used hand-drawn 2D animation, will work with computer technology.
The animation may be different, but Miyazaki’s movies always have something in common.
Many themes are seen again and again in his films.
Two of these themes are the sky and water. From his early film Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (《风之谷》, 1984) to his popular 2004 movie Howl’s Moving Castle (《哈尔的移动城堡》), Miyazaki’s films are full of flight. The water is another place where gravity doesn’t work. Miyazaki loves quickly filling spaces with clear water, leaving things to float.
Another repeated idea in Miyazaki’s work is the Earth’s fragility (脆弱性). He often criticizes (批评) development and pollution. Princess Mononoke (《幽灵公主》) shows villagers cutting down a forest to provide fuel for their iron factory, while natural forces fight against them.
In his movies, there is often no clear good or evil. Miyazaki has explained that he sees the 21st century as a complex time. Simple stereotypes cannot be accepted, he said, even in children’s films.
【1】Hayao Miyazaki was born ________.
A.in 1940 B.in 1941 C.in 1942 D.in 1943
【2】In which film did Miyazaki show his attitude?
A.Boro the Caterpillar
B.Howl’s Moving Castle
C.Princess Mononoke
D.Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
【3】What does the underlined word “complex” in the last paragraph mean?
A.easy B.modern
C.standard D.difficult to understand
【4】What do we know from the passage?
A.Miyazaki learnt to draw from his mother.
B.Miyazaki has given up drawing animation by hand.
C.Miyazaki is starting to focus on protecting the environment
D.Miyazaki doesn’t like using simple stereotypes in his films.
23、Morning, everyone. This is BBC Six Minutes English. Today we are going to talk about tips for travelling in England. If you want your trip to be a pleasant one, please keep these rules in your mind.
The first one is about drinking. Now, you are not allowed to buy alcohol(酒精) in this country if you are less than 18 years old. Your friends can’t buy it for you either.
Secondly, it is about the noise. Enjoy yourselves as much as you can, but please don’t make too much or too loud noise, especially at night. Too much or loud noise will make the people around you feel uncomfortable.
The third one is about crossing the road. Be careful. The traffic moves on the left side of the road in this country. Use zebra crossings and do not move until the traffic light is green.
My next point is about littering. It is against the law to drop litter carelessly in the street. When you have something to throw away, please put it in your pocket and take it home, or put it in a litter bin.
Finally, it comes to smoking. It is also against the law to buy cigarettes or tobacco if you are under 18 years of age.
That is the end of today’s programme. Now, are there any questions? If you want to know more about our programme, please contact us at 2066781578.

24、We’re sitting too much and it’s dangerous. Most Americans spend more than seven hours sitting every day, and the more you sit, the weaker your body will be.
Fortunately, there are simple changes you can make during the day — anywhere, even at the workplace — to improve your health.
Park a few blocks away from the office each morning and walk to work.
This allows you to start off your mornings actively and be ready to take on the work. If you take the bus, get off one stop earlier to take some light exercise before 8 a.m.
Stand up and move around the office once every 60 — 90 minutes.
When you’re busy with work, it’s easy to forget the time. Set the alarm to remind(提醒) you to stand up and take a walk around the office. You can use this time to fill up your water bottle or go to the bathroom.
Ask questions and discuss questions face to face.
Go to your co-worker’s office to discuss questions face to face, rather than send an e-mail every time you have a question. This gives you a good excuse to move.
Use your lunch break to move around outside.
So many Americans today work during their lunch break. When possible, take advantage of(利用) this time to walk outside and enjoy the nice weather. Fresh air can make you keep a clear mind.
