Bringing Books
Alice has always loved reading. “Growing up, I was really shy, so I always turned to books.” she says. In 2019, Alice was in high school when her dad had a serious illness. Books became an even bigger comfort. She started thinking about families in similar situations. 1. When Alice’s dad got better, she came up with a plan to help others. “The idea came from just the great thanks to the doctors who saved her dad.” she says.
Alice started a book drive in her hometown. The goal was to collect books for kids being treated for serious illnesses in local hospitals. Her father was not surprised. “2. 她总是对书籍感兴趣。” he says. “And she always wanted to do things for the neighborhood.” She called the book drive for Love & Buttercup. She’s collected more than 10,000 books.
Alice started by posting on social media. 3. 她请求她家乡的人捐书。“I was expecting maybe two or three replies from neighbors.” she says. “But it ended up blowing up.” News stations began reporting it.
Alice continues to run the book drive. She gets help from her parents. “We do the driving.” her dad says. She hopes to one day spread the project to reach more kids. The memory of the first time she visited children who had received her books sticks with her. “It was the best day of my life.” she says. “4. I realized I wanted to do this kind of work forever.”

26、 Is there the best time to sleep? Actually, you have an amazing biological clock (生物钟) inside your body which can tell you some true facts.
From 11 p.m. to 3 a.m, your liver (肝脏) gets larger when filled with more blood and it lets the rubbish in your body out. If you go to sleep at 11 p.m., you have 4 hours to clean up the rubbish. And if you sleep at 2 a.m, there is only an hour to go. What if you sleep after 3 a.m.? Unfortunately, you won’t have any time to clean yourself. If you continue with this sleeping habit, there will be more toxins (毒素) in your body. You know what will happen next.
What if you go to bed late and wake up late? Did you realize you felt very tired the next day no matter how much you slept?
Going to bed late is very bad for your health. Besides not having enough time to clean your body, you will miss other important body functions (功能), too.
From 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., you should exercise and breathe in fresh air to take in good energy into your body. From 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., go to the toilet. And from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., it’s the best time to have breakfast. This is your most important meal in a day. Not having breakfast causes lots of health problems for you in the future.
Once you know the importance of your biological clock, try your best to follow it. What if you have much work to do until late at night? Well, why not go to bed early and wake up early to do it? You’ll get the same time, but your body will get fit.

27、Some people say that “a picture is worth a thousand words”, but many people would question the common saying according to the books and the movies based on them. But great books often end up being turned into bad movies.
Good movies need good stories. If so, why has one of the earliest and greatest works in Western storytelling, Homer’s The Odyssey, never had an equally(同等地) great movie based on it? Movies need strong characters. So why have the movies based on The Great Gasby never been praised as “great”? Movies of course need great images(形象), so why has Alice in Wonderland only resulted in movies best described as “interesting”?
One of the key reasons behind this is that while a book usually takes a few days to read, a movie typically lasts under two hours. This means that great books can lose plot details(情节细节) and characters when they move to the big screen. This is something that even the highly successful Harry Potter movies can’t avoid, with fans of the books disappointed not to see some of their favorite characters in the movies.
There are a thousand Hamlets(哈姆雷特) in a thousand people’s eyes. Besides, books and movies are two different forms of media(媒体) and therefore have different rules. With this in mind, perhaps we should judge(评判) a movie in itself, and not against its book. Interestingly, people have in recent years turned to TV plays such as Sherlock or Mad men, which can have many characters and gradual plot development. Perhaps, one day, readers will find themselves interested in their screens by episodes(剧集) of The Great Gatsby.
【1】Great books often end up being turned into bad movies because ________.

【3】What does the underlined sentence “There are a thousand Hamlets(哈姆雷特) in a thousand people’s eyes” in the last paragraph mean?
A.Different countries have different cultures.
B.Different people like different books and movies.
C.People have different ideas about books and movies.
D.People from all over the world like Hamlet very much.
【4】What does this passage mainly talk about?
A.How good books are turned into good movies.
