1、写作技能
There is an old English saying. It tells us that we must go to bed early and get up early in the morning. Then we shall be healthy. We shall also be rich and clever. This is true. The body must have enough sleep to be healthy. Children should have ten hours’ sleep every night. Children who do not have enough sleep cannot do their work well and they may not be healthy.
The body also needs exercise.步行,跑步,跳跃,玩游戏都是锻炼。 Exercise keeps the body strong.
Exercise also helps the blood to move around inside the body. It is very important. Our blood moves to all parts of our body. The head also needs blood.锻炼有助于我们更好的思考。

24、 Usama Kalim, a 27-year-old university student from Pakistan(巴基斯坦), always wanted to live in a big city until he experienced country life in China. While in China, Kalim joined the Looking China Youth Film Project and made a short documentary about a young Chinese man named Lang Xiaoyong who gave up his job in the big city and chose to start a business near his hometown in the countryside. The project is to show Chinese culture to the world through the lens(镜头)of young foreign filmmakers.
Lang was born in Shiping village, Chongqing Southwest China. In 2015, he went back to his hometown to follow his dream.Kalim learned from Lang that tourism provided villagers with more job chances. “I am so moved by his story. He came from a poor family, but he didn't let that hold him back,” says Kalim. “Lang was always one of the top students in the class and got a well-paid job in the city. He could have continued his city life, but he chose to come back and do something for his hometown.” he adds.
Over the past ten years, a total of 610 young foreigners have visited China through the program, producing 609 short documentaries. Joseph Dwyer, an American director, has joined the program twice to record the development of transportation in China.
Six years ago, curious about how people moved around in big cities, Dwyer visited North China and made a documentary called Through Tianjin. Last year, he was invited to China again and made a short video on Jingzhang Railway that connects the cities of Beijing and Zhangjiakou.

25、“I will think of it.” It is easy to say this, but do you know what great things have come from thinking?
Sir Isaac Newton was sitting in his garden when he saw an apple fall from a tree. He began to think and tried to find out why the apple fell. Then he discovered how the sun, moon, and stars are kept in their places.
A boy named James Watt sat quietly by the fire, watching the lid of the kettle move up and down. He wanted to find out why the steam in the kettle moved the lid. From that time he went on thinking and thinking. And when he became a man, he improved the steam engine (蒸汽机) so much that it could easily do the work of many horses.
James Ferguson was a poor boy. Once, seeing the inside of a watch, he wondered. “Why should I not make a watch?” But how could he get the materials to make the mainspring (钟表的主发条)? He soon found he could make it with whalebone (鲸骨). He then made a wooden clock which kept good time. His motto (座右铭) was “I will think of it.” And he made his thoughts useful to himself and the world.
Boys and girls, when you have a difficult lesson to learn, don’t lose heart, and don’t ask someone for help before helping yourselves. Think, and by thinking you will learn how to think to some purpose.

26、Almost everyone has dropped some food on the floor and still wanted to eat it. If someone saw you drop it, he or she might have shouted, “ 5-second rule!” This so–called rule says food is OK to eat if you pick it up in five seconds or less. But is that true?
Professor Anthony Hilton from Ashton University, UK, tested the rule with his students. They found that food dropped for five seconds is less likely to contain bacteria(细菌) than if it sits there for longer.
For the study, Hilton and his students tested a lot of foods——bread, pasta, cookies and candy—to see how much bacteria they had when they made contact with the floor. They allowed the food to lie on the different types of flooring—carpet(地毯), laminate (复合地板) and tile(瓷砖) — for three seconds to 30 seconds.
Not surprisingly, the longer the food was on the floor, the more bacteria it had. And the type of floor where the dropped food landed had an effect. Bacteria are least likely to transfer(转移) from carpet, while they are most likely to transfer laminate or tiled surface after more than five seconds.
The study also found that the wetter the food, the more likely it was to pick up bacteria. Although most people are happy to follow the 5-second rule, eating food dropped on the floor still carries an infection(感染) risk. “It very much depends on which bacteria are on the floor at the time.” Hilton told Forbes.
【1】What is the “5-second rule’ mean?
A. People often shout at someone when they drop food on the floor.
B. Food is safe when you pick it up off the floor in less than five seconds.

B. what the dropped food is
C. what the bacteria are
D. what the weather is like that day

Mrs Woo said that her husband had just left for work when she felt that her house was moving. She ran outside at once with her children. “There was no time to take anything,” she said. “A few minutes later, the roof came down.”
