There are many different festivals in the world. 1. People can do many kinds of things when the festivals come.
The Spring Festival is the most important festival in China. On that day, Chinese people often perform lion and dragon dances. And they also eat dumplings with their family members while watching Spring Gala. The second Sunday in May is Mother’s Day. 2. We often express our love to our mothers by giving flowers or other presents. April Fool’s Day is a funny festival, because you can play some small tricks on your friends and they can’t be angry with you. Anyway, June 1st is a dream day for all the kids around the world because it’s Children’s Day. On that day, they can get their favorite toys and have fun with their friends.
3.在西方,一些重要的节日和它也很相似。 Thanksgiving is one of them. It’s an idea of giving thanks by having a big meal at home with the family. The main dish of this meal is always the turkey! Many people prefer Halloween. They make themselves look scary by dressing up as ghosts or black cats. The festival might not fit old people. It’s kind of terrible! However, more people celebrate Christmas. They often eat together and give presents to each other. 4.That’s because the true spirit of Christmas is to share love and joy with people around us!
If you want to know more on festivals in the world, you may want to get this book: The Dictionary of Festivals by J.C. Cooper. 5.它有利于你更好地了解不同的文化。 What are you waiting for? I promise you will get a lot you are dreaming of.

The moon is about three hundred and eighty-four thousand kilometers away from the earth. A plane can not fly to the moon because the air reaches only 240 kilometers. Then there is no air. But something can fly even when there is no air. That is a rocket.
How does a rocket fly? There is gas in the rocket. When the gas is made very hot inside the rocket, it will rush out of the end of the rocket, so it can make the rocket fly up into the sky.
Rockets can fly far out into space. Rockets with men in them have already reached the moon. Some rockets without men in them have flown to other planets much farther away than the moon. One day rockets may be able to go to any place.

Now people depend more on the Internet to store information. Do people remember less? If you know your computer will store information, why do you put it in your brain? Experts are wondering if the Internet is changing what and how we remember.
In a recent study, Professor Betsy Sparrow did some experiments(实验). She and her team wanted to know if the Internet is changing memory. In the first experiment, they gave people 40 unimportant facts and then stored them into a computer. The first group of people were told that the computer had stored the information. But the second group didn’t know that. Later, the second group remembered the information better. People in the first group knew they could find the information again, so they did not try to remember it.
In another experiment, the researchers gave people facts to remember, and told them where to find the information on the Internet. The information was in a certain computer folder(文件夹). Surprisingly, people later remember the folder’s location(位置) better than the facts. When people use the Internet, they do not remember the information. Instead, they remember how to find it. This is called “transactive memory(交互记忆)”.
According to Sparrow, we are not becoming people with poor memories as a result of the Internet. Instead, computer users are developing stronger transactive memories, that is, people are learning how to organize a great deal of information so that they are able to find it at a later date. This doesn’t mean we are becoming either more or less intelligent, but there is no doubt that the way we use memory is changing.

【3】According to transactive memory, people always_____________ .
A.remember the facts easily
B.keep the information in mind
C.remember how to find the information
D.store the information on the Internet easily
【4】What does the story mainly talk about?

Last Friday there was a big party at the hospital. Most of the doctors and nurses would be there, but of course some of us had to stay to look after the children. I saved it from my supper today, so it’s quite fresh.” I thanked him. “I’d dance with you myself if I was able to get up,” he added. His words warmed my heart.
