24、I want to start with the responsibility (责任) that you have to yourself. Every single one of you has something that you’re good at. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That is the opportunity that an education can provide.
No matter what you want to do with your life, I’m sure that you’ll need an education to do it. You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer? You’re going to need a good education for every single one of those jobs. You cannot drop out of school and just drop into a good job. You have to train for it and work for it and learn for it.
And this isn’t just important for your own life and your own future. The future of our country depends on you. What you’re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.
That’s why today I’m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education and do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class, or spending some time each day reading a book. Maybe you’ll decide to take part in an after-school activity, or volunteer in your community.
But whatever you decide to do, I want you to put your heart into it and really work at it.

25、Every day, one in five parents in the UK share a photo of their children on social media (社交媒体). It is a great way for friends and family to keep up to date with each other’s lives, some people think that children should have a say in whether pictures of themselves are posted online. So who can decide whether photos should be posted online or not?
Some people think parents should always ask first. Parents may do this for good, but anything posted online may remain there forever. These may be seen by people who the children don’t want to share their childhood with. Children should have control of their own photos. Even if the parent thinks it is a nice picture, the children may not agree. Also, they may not want their friends to know what they have been doing in the holidays or who they are spending time with.
For those who hold an opposite opinion, parents are able to decide what is best for their children. They share photos with people they know and trust. Social media is a great way to keep in touch with people and find out what family and friends are up to. Parents know how to set the right privacy settings to make sure the photos are only seen by friends and family. Besides, it is important that children’s real names and the location are hidden. Parents also select photos that won’t be awkward to the children because almost every child prefers to leave a good impression on others. It’s a great way to make memories, too. Since most people don’t keep printed photos in albums, social media is the perfect place to store them instead.

A.Children disagree to share the photos with all the friends.

26、 Workout clothes? Check. Water bottle? Check. Breakfast? Um …It's something that has been hotly debated by early morning gym-goers for years. And now a study has finally found out whether to exercise before or after breakfast.
Researchers analyzed the energy spending of 12 healthy, active men aged 20 to 26. Each of them completed three different tests: eating a breakfast of oats(燕麦) and milk and then resting, eating the same breakfast 2 hours before cycling for 1 hour, and doing the same 1 hour of exercise without having breakfast. The study showed that when the men didn't have breakfast, they had a greater calorie deficit(不足) throughout the day of about 150 calories on average, showing that fast exercise is the best for weight loss.
“These results suggest that for healthy young men, a short-term energy deficit may be more easily achieved if they exercise without breakfast,” the study's authors said.
Here's how it works: When you do fast exercise, your body doesn't have ready energy from food, so it draws from other sources, like stored body fat, which makes your exercise more effective at burning fat and helping you lose weight. Also, exercising in a fast state keeps your insulin(胰岛素) level low, allowing your body to produce more growth hormone(荷尔蒙激素), which also burns fat.
When insulin is increased - as is the case after you eat-your body will be in a state of wanting to store fat, not burn it. It doesn't matter whether you exercise like a mad man after a meal, because you won't be able to burn body fat until insulin levels drop.
【1】Which topic has been hotly debated by early morning gym-goers?
A.What food they should eat for breakfast.
B.Whether to eat before or after they exercise.

27、Imagine the situation. You are driving along a desert or on a mountain. You have no idea where you are. Then your car breaks down. It is night and it is cold. You have no mobile phone. What do you do? Well, next time take a GPS with you. This invention may be able to help you. It is a device(装置) which uses satellites(卫星) to find the user’s position (位置). It can find your position within(不出某段距离) 20 meters. A GPS cannot start your car, but at least you will know where you are.
GPS, which means Global Positioning System, is a small radio receiver. It looks like a mobile phone. You can hold it in your hand, or put it in your pocket. It is sometimes put into a watch or a telephone. We also find GPS devices in cars, planes, or boats. Some of these devices have electronic maps, so you know where you are. For example, in a city they can tell you the name of the street.
There are three parts to the Global Positioning System. The first part is the receiver. You can hold it in your hand, or have it fixed into your car, plane, etc. The second part is a group of satellites orbiting(环绕) the Earth.
The receiver contacts at least four of the satellites and calculates(计算) its position. The third part of the system is a network of ground stations. They are all over the world. They control the satellites and make sure they are working well.
Some people think that in the future the GPS will be as common as the mobile. They are becoming cheaper and more and more accurate(精确的). There are also new uses for the GPS. Perhaps they will become like watches. Everyone will have one and you will never be lost again.
