四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   Big telecommunications companies such as Huawei, Samsung and Qualcomm have announced their latest fifth generation (5G) products. They have also announced that 5G technology would be widely used by 2020, causing some experts to say the “5G epoch” is coming. Yet, when reporting about 5G, many reporters only described it as a “much faster” technology than 4G. As a result, what people know about 5G is that they could “download a movie within one second”.

Actually, 5G technology has many more advantages than 4G besides the speed. It can be used for at least two purposesfor connecting everything and removing delays(消除网络延时).

Connecting everything is one of the strongest functions of 5G. It makes the Internet Things possible. Take driverless smart cars as an example. 5G technology can connect all parts of a transportation system including traffic lights, CCTV cameras and cars to build up perfect coordination(协调). In this way, these cars can avoid obstacles(障碍) and move on driving routes, which will help improve self-driving technology.

And removing delays might be useful especially in online games. Even long after 4G technology was introduced, players still worried about losing games because of low speed. This problem can be solved with 5G technology, because it will make sure of continuous high speed.

And for those people who think that 5G costs will be very high, they need not worry. Compared with 4G macro base station, a 5G macro base station can provide service to more users. Factories can produce more macro base stations to allow more people to use. The more users, the lower cost. Therefore, 5G technology won’t cost as much as they thought.

1The underlined word “epoch” in Para 2 means ________.

    A.技术 B.时代 C.设备 D.讯号

25G technology can help improve self-driving technology because ________.

A.it makes the self-driving car run much faster

B.it helps to connect the cars with the Internet

C.it helps the cars avoid obstacles and move on driving routes

D.it helps the cars control the traffic lights and CCTV cameras

3Factories can produce more macro base stations so that ________.

A.people can pay less for 5G B.5G can be compared with 4G

C.the “5G epoch” can come sooner D.few people can enjoy the 5G technology

4According to the passage, we can know that ________.

    A.people know a lot about 5G

B.5G is much faster but more expensive than 4G

C.connecting everything is the strongest function of 5G

D.online game players can enjoy continuous high speed of 5G

5What’s the main idea of the passage?

A.The “5G Epoch” is coming. B.The latest 5G products have been invented.

C.5G technology costs less with higher speed. D.5G technology is more than about high speed.

  • 25、Looking at the undone homework on his desk always makes David Grey feel uncomfortable. More often than not, David leaves his homework behind and surfs the Internet or watches TV instead, waiting until the last minute. “But the longer I wait,” says David, aged 15, “the more I worry.”

Everyone procrastinates (拖延) because they want to feel good now. The way to do that is to avoid the task. You can procrastinate on nearly anything, even enjoyable tasks such as planning a vacation. “Some people procrastinate cleaning. Some people procrastinate by cleaning,” says Professor Peter Stone. Research has shown that the top tasks young people procrastinate are studying and going to bed. “One big cause for procrastination is that people are afraid of failure, of not meeting others’ expectations,” Stone adds.

Some people believe that procrastination will make them thrive. But researchers disagree. “I did a study several years ago, asking procrastinators to finish a task in a certain period of time,” says Stone. “They did worse than non-procrastinators: they made more mistakes and they took longer. But they thought they did better.” No matter what the cause is, procrastination is usually not going to be good for you. For example, bedtime procrastination can lead to sleeplessness, which in turn can cause many other health problems.

For those who need some drives to stop procrastinating, the best advice might be to take action first. If you’ve been procrastinating on forming a habit of exercise, just put on your walking shoes. A little bit of progress will get you moving.

Next, find something to help you remember to take action. If you want to go to bed at 10:30 pm, you might set a timed dimmer switch (渐暗开关) at 10 pm. When the lights are dimmer, you’ll start going to bed. It works for most people.

Finally, reward yourself every time you make progress. For example, after you’ve run 3 km, enjoy your favourite ice-cream. But be careful: it won’t work the other way around.

【1】What can be the best title of this passage?

    A.A day of a procrastinator.

【3】The underlined word “thrive” in paragraph 3 most probably means ________.

    A.think faster

    B.work more successfully

    YOUTH PARK_________________________________________________

Plan to encourage youngsters to go from fat to fit

Some departments recently introduced a plan to control the obesity rate (肥胖率) among youngsters below 18. The idea is to prevent the obesity rate rising among children, and makes it drop by 70 percent. The final goal is to bring the obesity rate down to zero.

The rising obesity rate is a big health problem of children. Unless proper measures are taken, one in every six children or youngsters will be overweight by 2030.

That is worrying because overweight children are at higher risk of developing diabetes(糖尿病), high blood pressure and other diseases. To prevent this, schools, parents and children all need to work hard. Schools need to organize more outdoor activities so that children keep fit.
