四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Today, more and more people use cell phones while they are moving, putting themselves and othes in danger. These people are called the “Heads-down Tribe(族)”. Are you a heads-down tribe member?

More and more traffic accidents are happening because more drivers use cell phones when they are driving. In order to make drivers pay more attention to driving, some traffic rules have been set down. For example, heads-down tribe members who use cell phones while driving in Taiwan will be fined. Drivers who break the traffic rule will be fined NT$3,000 and motorcyclists(骑摩托车的人)caught using cell phones when driving will have to pay NT$1,000.

As we can see above, keeping heads down and using cell phones may cause accidents and even cost much. Besides, more and more interesting and strange facts happen to the “Heads-down Tribe”. Let’s have a look at an interesting TV report. A man in America kept using his cell phone on his way home. As a result, he bumped(碰撞) into a big lost bear. When he raised his head, he was so frightened that he turned round and ran away as quickly as possible. Another fact is that we can often see people in the restaurant eating face to face but focusing on their own cell phones. It’s strange that they don’t talk to the ones who sit opposite to them during the meal. Some of them even have fun communicating with others on the phone.

Cell phones are helpful and necessary tools for modern people. Are cell phones good or bad? It depends on how people use them. Let’s be “health” users and try to be the “Heads-up Tribe”.

【1】What do we know about the “Heads-down Tribe?

    A. They are dangerous drivers.

    B. They are good at using the Internet.

    C. They are cool children.

    D. They are always looking at their mobile phones.

【2】What does the underlined word "fined" mean ?

    A. encouraged B. raised money

    C. sent   D. punished

【3】According to the reading, what do the “Heads-down Tribe”do when they eat in a restaurant?

A They talk to people who sit opposite

    B. They talk to strangers who sit next to them.

    C. They focus on their food and drink.

    D. They focus on their own cell phones.

【4】What is the main idea of the passage?

    A. Let’s try to be “Heads-down Tribe”.

    B. We should use mobile phones properly.

    C. Mobile phones are not good for people.

    D. Mobile phones are helpful and necessary.

  • 25、If you look around your city, you may see girls wearing hanfu on buses or people wearing T-shirts with Chinese characters(汉字) on the streets. A new trend(趋势) is coming in China - “Guochao”, or “China-chic”.

According to a recent report, searches connected with “Guochao” on dianping.com have risen by 170% since last year, and reviews have risen by near 40%. China-chic is happening, but what is it?

The word “Guochao” has appeared along with the development of the idea of “Made in China”. “China has recently seen a surge(激增) in young people’s interest in Chinese brands and products that include Chinese traditional style and culture, a trend known as Guochao,” China Daily explained the word “Guochao”.

China-chic got people’s attention in 2018. Before that, big-name foreign companies ruled the world market. Many Chinese brands followed in the footsteps of these Western brands. But that year, Chinese sportswear brand Li-Ning changed things up. During the 2018 New York Fashion Week, Li-Ning introduced its Taoism-inspired Wu Dao collection(以道教为灵感的悟道系列服饰). The collection not only had a popular look, but also included traditional Chinese culture such as Chinese characters. It caught many people’s eyes at home and abroad at once.

Since then, , from clothing to food and drinks, mobile phones and electric cars. For example, White Rabbit, whose sweet candy brings back childhood memories for many, introduced its perfume(香水) and lip balm(唇膏).

Now, the “Guochao” trend is moving to the next stage. No matter how it changes, there’s one thing that won’t change. Behind this is people’s pride in the country’s development and their growing confidence in national culture.

【1】What is “Guochao” according to the passage?

A.More and more foreigners’ attention to China on the Internet.

B.Young Chinese people’s love for western culture and brands.

C.The growing role of China-made products in foreign countries.

D.The young’s interest in Chinese brands and China-made products.

A.has never used Western design(设计) in its sportswear

B.introduced its Taoism-inspired Wu Dao collection

C.will design more products with Chinese characters

D.has taken the lead in the world market of sportswear

【3】Which of the following sentences can be put in the ?

A.the “Guochao” trend has spread to different areas and products

B.many different foreign products have entered Chinese market

C.Li-Ning has begun to produce many other kinds of products

D.other Chinese brands have learnt how to sell products well

A.Chinese take pride in their own country and culture

C.Chinese brands are well-known all over the world

  • 26、“Children need more geography field trips. Schools should organize geography field trips to stop pupils from sitting before computer screens for a long time. And children should be encouraged to see the natural world and study geography,” says Michael Palin.

The famous actor and writer, Michael Palin, made the comments days after a study showed that pupils in the UK were less likely to take part in science field trips than in most other developed countries.

The study found that 13% of schools in the UK failed to take children out of the classroom regularly.

Mr. Palin said that field trips were an important part of geography and that he was interested in geography because he had a good geography teacher and he had many opportunities to “get out of the school building”.

In an interview, Mr. Palin said, “It was important for children to see things for themselves and learn about the rest of the world. You have to show them a mountain, show them a factory, show them a power station.”

Mr. Palin had been to the North and South Poles, the Himalayas(喜马拉雅山脉), the Sahara and Eastern Europe.

“Geography is about the study of the earth. It is a wide-ranging subject,” he said. “It’s related to everything we do: what we eat, what transport we take to work, where we live, what houses are made of, and so on.”

He said children needed to get basic geography knowledge first and that once they had the basic knowledge they could move on to deeper problems, such as population and pollution. “Today’s children will need to deal with a lot of problems when they grow up. They have to learn geography today,” he said.

    【1】The study showed that __________

    A. about 10% of British schools didn’t organize field trips regularly

    B. many British students were not interested in geography

    C. some geography teachers didn’t do a good job

2The underlined expression“ wide-ranging means ________ in Chinese.

    C. 覆盖面广的   D.跟旅游有关的

    3Mr. Palin _____________.

    A. thinks that population and pollution are small problems

    B. wanted to be a teacher when he was in middle school

    C. has organized some field trips for school children

    D. thinks that children should take part in geography field trips

4From the passage, we can learn that Mr. Palin likes ___________

    A. staying at home   B. travelling

    C. using computers   D. shopping
