In the barn, Wilbur makes a friend called Charlotte. She is a spider.Wilbur finds out that Fern’s uncle is going to kill him for meat.Wilbur asks Charlotte for help.

22、My wife Julie and I were out on the road that runs around our neighbourhood. Two dog walkers passed by and one of them said, “Never seen that dog around here before.”
We looked down the hill and saw an old black dog stumbling (蹒跚) painfully up the hill. We bent down, talked gently to the dog and patted it. I checked and there was a collar. There was a phone number on it, but no one answered.
The dog was really thin. It didn’t have many teeth left.
Julie ran home to get some of our dog’s food while I tried to encourage the dog to come along with me. Julie got home and back again when I was only half way there. So, we sat down on the sidewalk while our new friend ate its food.
Finally we got it home. We gave it a blanket, more food and wondered what to do next.
After trying for many times, we got a reply from the number. A lady came. She explained that Tara had been her father’s dog. It was very old and should probably be put to sleep, but the lady just couldn’t bring herself to do it. So, Tara was safely returned home.
Here is the truth of the story:
In fact, Julie and I were out that morning because I was leaving. She was trying to persuade me to come back, but I still didn’t find it possible. I was going to turn and go when an old, weak dog walked between us and collapsed. Suddenly we had something more important than our problem to worry about. There was a creature in need right before us and we had to work together to help it.
We did help it. And here am I writing the story in my own home. In the song “Love Is Not a Fight”, Warren Barfield talks about marriage. He sings, “And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door.”

23、What are you going to do if you are in a burning house? How will you escape? Do you know how to save yourself? Please read the following passage.
Escaping a fire is a serious matter. Knowing what to do during a fire can save your life. It is important to know the ways you can use and show them to everyone in the family, such as stairways and fire escapes, but not lifts.
From the lower floors of the buildings, escaping through windows is possible. Learn the best way of leaving by windows with the least chance of serious injury.
The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. An average person, hanging by the fingertips will have a drop of about six feet to the ground. It is about the height of an average man. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way than to slay in a burning building.
Windows are also useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed, or smoke and fire may be drawn into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you get fresh air rather than smoke that may have leaked (渗) into the room.
On a second or third floor, the best windows for escape are these which open onto a roof. From the roof a person can drop to the ground more safely. Dropping onto cement (水泥)might end with injury. Bushes and grass can help to break a fall.
【1】It is more important to ________.
A.put out the fire in the burning house
B.know the ways to escape the fire
C.jump off a burning house
D.keep the door closed

24、 For hundreds of years, scientists have been trying to answer what things have an influence (影响) on people's feelings. Many things can influence your feelings. Your feelings can be influenced by your personality (个性), by the actions of others and by the events around you. Perhaps you don't know your feelings can be influenced by the weather, too.
People often say they feel good when the sun is shining and sad when it is cloudy. In fact, sunlight makes us feel good. When sunlight reaches our skins, our bodies make a vitamin (维他命). Vitamins are natural chemicals (化学物质) which we all need to stay healthy. Sunlight helps our bodies make vitamin D. Vitamin D helps our bodies make a special chemical. This special chemical influences our brains and makes us feel happy. For example, there are long, dark winters of sunlight in Sweden and Norway, so many people in these countries often feel sad. Without much sunlight, their bodies make less vitamin D. Without enough vitamin D, their bodies make less of this special chemical which makes them feel good. To help the people in these countries feet better, special "sunrooms" with artificial (人工的) lights have been built. People can go there and get "sunlight" for an hour or two!
The weather can also influence people's feelings in other ways. Hot weather can make people angry because people feel uncomfortable when they are hot. In the same way, rain can make people angry because being wet can be uncomfortable. As you can see, the weather can have an influence on the chemicals which control our brains. Through these ways, the weather can influence our feelings. Sadly, while the weather can change us, we can hardly change the weather.
【1】 may NOT influence one's feelings.
A.Weather B.Age C.Actions of others
【2】Vitamin D is according to the passage.
A.a kind of special food B.helpful to our bodies C.in the sunlight

A.Italy B.Norway C.France
【4】What can you learn from the passage?
A.We feel good when we are in the bright cool weather.
B.All people in Norway and Sweden feel sad in winter.
C.The less vitamin you have, the happier you will be.
【5】Which is the best title for the passage?
A.People Need More Vitamin D
B.We Can Hardly Change the Weather
C.The Weather Influences People's Feelings
