四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   There's a heat that's so hot you can literally(不加夸张地) fry an egg in the sun. This is a serious side to summer in Australia that you might not know about.

In February there were more than 80 different bushfires burning at the same time in New South Wales, a southeastern state of Australia. The Guardian newspaper reported that 42 homes were burned to the ground because of these fires. These homes are not like Chinese ones. They are huge farms. Many Australian properties are larger than 1,000 sq km, while the biggest is more than 20,000 sq km, even larger than Beijing!

Every family prepares for bushfire season and protects their property. But sometimes the fires are too big and people have to move to safety

The hot weather also causes other problems. It was so hot in February that thousands of bats(蝙蝠) died from the heat. People can get sick if they stay outside for too long or don't drink enough water The heat can also cause power problems for homes and businesses

The heat, which can go above 40 ℃ in some cities, is very dangerous. There are lots of trees and dry grass in areas far away that can easily catch fire. Even throwing a burning cigarette out of a car window can start a dangerous fire. That is why summer is also known as "bushfire season" in Australia.

The Australian summer is enjoyable. But it is worth remembering that the heat can cause lots of problems, too.

1According to the second and third paragraphs, we know that________.

A.bushfires happen more often on farms

B.bushfires can cause a huge loss to people

C.Australian people are very rich because of their large farms.

2What does the underlined word “properties” in Para.2 probably mean in Chinese?

    A.房产 B.山林 C.水域

3The hot weather in Australia can bring the following problems EXCEPT that________.

A.bats can die B.electricity can go out C.drinking water runs out

4What’s the main idea of the fifth paragraph?

A.There are more fire accidents in areas far away.

B.It is dangerous to smoke in a forest.

C.Bushfires in Australia are common events in summer.

5What can we infer from the passage?

A.The high heat is one of the causes of bushfires in Australia.

B.People have no way to fight against bushfires.

C.The weather changes a lot in Australia.

  • 25、Take a class at Dulangkou School, and you’ll see lots of things different from other schools. You can see the desks are not in rows and students sit in groups. They put their desks together so they’re facing each other. How can they see the blackboard? There are three blackboards on the three walls of the classroom!

The school calls the new way of learning “Tuantuanzuo”, meaning sitting in groups. Wei Liying, a Junior 3 teacher, said it was to give students more chance to communicate.

Each group has five or six students, according to Wei, and they play different roles (角色). There is a team leader who takes care of the whole group. There is a “study leader” who makes sure that everyone finishes their homework. And there is a discipline (纪律) leader who makes sure that nobody chats in class.

Wang Lin is a team leader. The 15-year-old said that having to deal with so many things was tiring.

“I just looked after my own business before,” said Wang. “But now I have to think about my five group members.”

But Wang has got used to it and can see the benefits (好处) now.

“ I used to speak too little. But being a team leader means you have to talk a lot. You could even call me an excellent speaker today.”

Zhang Qi, 16, was weak in English. She used to get about 70 in English tests. But in a recent test, Zhang got a grade of more than 80.

“I rarely(很少)asked others when I had problems with my English. But now I can ask the team leader or study leader. They are really helpful.”

    A. take care of the whole group

    B. make sure that everybody finishes homework

    C. make sure that nobody chats in class

  • 27、   New trains run across mountains and the Great Wall to the north of Beijing like bullets(子弹). They run on a high-speed railway line connecting Beijing and Zhangjiakou that came into service in the last month of 2019.

The railway is an important support project for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The 174-km railway’s trains move at a top speed of 350 km/h. This reduces the travel time between Beijing and Zhangjiakou, the host cities of the Winter Games, from over three hours to only 47 minutes.

Some of the trains on this railway are smart trains that can run by themselves. With the help of Beidou, they can start, run between stations, change their timing according to the schedule, accurately stop at a station, and open and close their doors. Passengers can also watch live events during the Winter Olympics on the train which is equipped with 5G technology.

Some people refer to Zhan Tianyou as “the father of China’s railways”. He led construction on the old Beijing-Zhangjiakou railway, China’s first independent-designed railway.

Back in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), building a railway without foreign help was thought to be impossible. But Zhan, the main engineer of the railway project, believed that it could be done. After overcoming many difficulties, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou line was put into service in 1909. Its trains ran at 35 km/h.

As President Xi said, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou railway stands for the development of China’s railways over more than a century, as well as China’s development in general.

【1】When was the new Beijing and Zhangjiakou line put into use?

    A.In September.

    B.In October.

    C.In November.

    D.In December.

【2】What is the third paragraph mainly about?

    A.The self-driving train.

    B.The 2022 Winter Olympics.

    C.The advantages of Beidou.

    D.The development of 5G.

【3】What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 5 refer to?

    A.Reducing the travel time.

    B.Watching live events.

    C.Building China’s own railway.

    D.Holding the Winter Olympics.

【4】What can we know about Zhan Tianyou?

    A.He produced the first train.

    B.He designed China’s first railway.

C.He drove the first train in China.

D.He increased the speed of train.

【5】What can we infer(推断) from the text?

A.Zhan Tianyou is “the father of China’s high-speed railways”.

B.The high-speed train runs five times faster than the first train.

C.The Beijing-Zhangjiakou line was designed by foreign engineers.
