24、 “Budda(佛)-like youngsters” has become the buzzwords online overnight. What is “Budda-like”?Actually,it has nothing to do with Buddhism. It's only an attitude towards life. It means one should neither be pleased by outside gains nor be saddened by personal losses. Besides, it guides a lifestyle that “it's fine to have something or not.”
The youngsters are in their 20s. Although they haven’t developed themselves into the “God” , they've learned how to live a comfortable life. The green post-90s have mixed feelings to face the unknown future. They think that they are“Budda-like youngsters” and try to let everything go. They don’t give up; they make some efforts; they take what they are given; they don’t make a change.
We are living at a fast-developing time. If we have a strong sense of competitions, we will be overtaken in grades, education backgrounds, scores, jobs and will be overtaken in our kids grades, education backgrounds, and jobs... “Budda-like” youngsters keep a casual and calm attitude towards life and get rid of the so-called “fear”. It's not that they refuse to make progress but that the pain from efforts overwhelms (压倒) the joy from gain. So, they stop considering struggle (奋 斗) as the most important part or even the only aim in life as their parents did. Gradually, “Budda-like” becomes the weapon (武器)for the youngsters to fight against the society that doesn’t belong to them.
In fact, every generation has their own culture. It's hard to tell whether it is good or bad. People born at special time create their own culture. We don’t have to worry about it.

【2】What is Budda-like youngsters’ attitude about life?

A.Because they want to get the joy form the gain
B.Because they really refuse to make any progress.
C.Because it's their way to fight against the so-calle fear.
D.Because they want to have the same life as their parents’.
25、As graduation season gets underway in June and July, graduates are departing to different destinations to celebrate the start of a new chapter in their lives.
For graduation trips, Chengdu in Sichuan province, Guangzhou in Guangdong province, Chongqing, Shenzhen in Guangdong and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province were listed as the top five most popular destinations for domestic tours. Thailand and the United States are popular among overseas destinations, according to a recent report by Qunar, a domestic rival that was acquired by Ctrip, the largest online travel agency in China, in 2016.
The agency surveyed those who were born between 1995 and 2005, and found that making trips and taking stylish photos are now standard practice to mark graduation. It is reported that the market scale of graduation tours has exceeded 15 billion yuan ($2.34 billion).
Young people are good at using travel apps to get more information and their decision-making is quite fast. It’s possible that just because of a song, a book, a TV drama, or a chat with someone, they may decide to take a trip somewhere, said Shao Jihong, senior director of the flight tickets department of Ctrip.
Compared with those who were born in the 1980s, and usually like to plan ahead carefully, the younger generations are deemed more free and casual. According to Qunar’s statistics, 56 percent of customers who were born after 1995 book accommodation on the day they need to stay there.
Besides, 1.12 percent of students buy plane tickets after they arrive at an airport. They have also become less price sensitive, and look for higher quality trips. Most trips involve groups of two to five people, according to Qunar.
This year, college students who traveled by air with their boyfriends or girlfriends accounted for 9.6 percent of the total, up 0.8 percent year-on-year. Those who traveled by air with friends made up 6.7 percent, edging up 0.3 percent over last year, Qunar said.
Last year, students who had just finished their college entrance examinations favored Shanghai, with many visiting the city’s Disneyland. Kunming, Yunnan province, and Beijing are also popular, the report said.
Taking an in-depth trip to one destination is the preference of the young, and those born after 1995 have abandoned group tours with travel agencies. Most of them would prefer to stay at the same hotel for three to seven days, and the number of those who stay in one place for five days consecutively rose by about 30 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, themed tours such as trips to deserts, cruises, camping, those involving cosplay or getting married, are all hot elements that the young would like to try.
On average, students plan to spend between 3,500 yuan and 7,000 yuan on their graduation tours per person, and the money comes from savings, income from selling secondhand items, part-time jobs, and support from parents, according to the report.

26、 Music has brought James Blunt worldwide fame, but becoming a pop star hasn’t been an easy road for him.
Blunt was born into a family of soldiers in 1974. So it is no surprise that he himself joined the army as a soldier in 1996. Music wasn’t popular entertainment in the family house. His father considered all music to be unnecessary noise. “Like any parents, mine wanted me to have a secure job with a regular salary(薪水)and career prospects(前途), Blunt said in an interview with the BBC. “And the one job my father knew of —that he’d experienced himself—was the army, so he could help me in that direction.” In 1999, he was sent to Kosovo(科索沃)as a member of the peacekeeping force. Despite following in his father’s footsteps, music was James’ primary passion. The young officer took his guitar with him. Blunt explained to the Herald.-Times.” Wherever you are in the army, you take something to keep yourself amused. Some bring a pack of cards, some a football. I took a guitar.” His wartime experience inspired him to write the song No Bravery. Blunt couldn’t escape his love of music. He left the army in October 2002 and decided that it was time to replace guns with guitars. He flew to the US in September 2003. There he met Linda Perry, songwriter and produces, who helped him with the music. In 2005, Blunt released his first album. Back to Bedlam. 27、Bacteria Show New Ways to Recycle Plastic
Recently, researchers have reported on new ways to break down different kinds of plastic. The new development could lead to easier, high-quality recycling, and help deal with harmful plastic pollution.
The world is drowning (淹没) in plastic, but only about 9% of plastic products are ever recycled. Every year, over 7,720 billion kilograms of plastic finds its way into the world’s oceans. But bacteria may help recycle, even when humans don’t. Bacteria are tiny living things — so small that you need a microscope to see them. Bacteria feed themselves in many different ways. Some bacteria can “eat” other things by changing the chemicals in those things into something that will help the bacteria grow.
The secret to this is enzymes (酶). Bacteria use enzymes to cause chemical changes. Enzymes can work like a pair of scissors, breaking apart other materials.
Most people know about PET plastic. It’s used in water and soda bottles. About 63.5 billion kilograms are produced every year. Most PET is thrown away, but even when it’s recycled, it can’t be made into new bottles. Usually it’s turned into products like carpets.
In 2012, in some decaying (腐烂的) leaves, scientists discovered an enzyme called LCC that slowly breaks apart PET plastic. Years later, scientists working at the French company Carbios chose LCC from nearly 100,000 enzymes. It was the best at breaking down PET.
But the scientists wanted to improve LCC. They studied the enzyme and the way it attacked the PET. By testing thousands and thousands of small changes to the enzyme, they came up with a new kind of LCC. The new kind can eat through PET very quickly and it can even survive (存活) at higher temperatures.
The process turns the PET plastic back into the materials that it was made from. Those materials can then be used again to make new bottles or other products.
The researchers tested their new LCC against the original (原先的) enzyme, and were impressed with the results. When the conditions were just right, the new enzyme was able to break up 90% of the PET in just 10 hours. The original enzyme took about 20 hours and only broke up half of the PET.
【1】What can we learn about bacteria?
A.They can be seen without microscopes.
B.They can break apart other materials directly.

【4】Thanks to LCC, PET plastic could be recycled by ________.
A.being turned back into the materials it was made from
B.being thrown away in some decaying lcaves

D.being put under high temperatures
