四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   First AidLearn It by Yourself

When we are injured or suddenly feeling unwell, what we need to do is to treat it in the right way. How can we do that? First aid (急救) is here to help.

First aid is the first steps you can take to care for someone who’s injured. It includes keeping safe, helping someone feel better and staying calm. It also includes getting help, either by telling an adult or calling 120.

Sept 14 is World First Aid Day. It’s time for us to learn about this useful life skill.

    Nosebleed

Ask the person to lean (倾斜) forward and pinch () his/her nose for five to six minutes. Do not move the head backward, as the blood can run into their mouth or even lungs.

    Choking

Stand behind the choking (因噎住而窒息 ) person, put your arms around their waist and lean him or her forward. Make fists with your hands and thrust (猛烈施压) your fists into their stomach. Do this up to five times. You can also do back blows – firmly slap (拍打) their back with your hand. If the object still doesn’t come out, call 120.

    Broken bone

If the bone is broken, keep it still. You can support it with your hands or clothes to stop movement. Then, find an adult or call 120 for further help.

    Burn

Quickly cool the burned area with cold running water. You should do this for at least 10 minutes. Then, call an adult for help or go to the hospital. Do not use ice. It can make the injury even worse.

  • 25、A wise man was visiting a village with his students. He found a group of family members shouting in anger at each other. He turned to his students and asked: “Why do people shout in anger at each other?”

His students thought for a while, and one of them said: “Because when we lose our calm, we shout.”

“But, why should you shout when the other person is just next to you? You can just as well tell him what you have to say in a soft manner,” said the wise man.

Students gave some other answers but none were any good.

“When two people are angry at each other, their hearts become distanced,” the wise man explained. “To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the louder they will have to shout to hear each other and cover that great distance.”

The wise man then gave an example: “What happens when two people fall in love? They don’t shout at each other but talk softly because their hearts are very close. When they love each other even more, what happens? They don’t need to talk. They only look at each other and that’s all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.”

He looked at his students and said: “So when you argue, do not let your hearts get distant. Do not say words that distance you from others. Otherwise, there will come a day when the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.”

1What did they find when a wise man and his students were visiting a village?

    A. A group of family members were shouting at each other angrily.

    B. A group of family members were playing there.

    C. His students were shouting with a group of people.

    D. A group of people were traveling there.

2One of the students thinks family members shout at each other because.

    A. they are not friends   B. they lose their calm

    C. they don’t like each other   D. they are far from each other

3What will happen when two people are angry with each other according to the wise

    man?

    A. They fight with each other.   B. They are too angry to say a word.

    C. They are far away from each other.   D. Their hearts become distanced.

4What will usually happen to two people at first when they fall in love with each other

    according to the passage?

    A. They talk more.   B. They shout at each other.

    C. They talk softly.   D. They don’t say anything to each other.

5What’s the topic of the passage?

  • 27、   When I was a little child, I lived a happy life. My parents took me to play in many places, and in school, my teacher was kind and friendly, he left me little homework. We used to play games and watch cartoons in class.

However, my bad dreams began when I got to Grade Three. The teachers were stricter and the subjects were more difficult. My grades were dropping which made my parents very worried. They had to make me study all day. I was very tired and thought the school was not fun as before. Then in Grade Four and Grade Five, I kept having the problem, failing grades. I almost lost heart in learning.

Grade six was the last year when I was in primary school. On April 21th that year, our school held a sport meeting. Luckily, I won the races for 100m and 200m. It was on the winter’s platform (领奖台) that realized I was the fastest runner in the school. From then on, I studied harder and more carefully. I wanted to prove that I could also do well in study. Then my grades became better and better.

So we should look up and never give up. Failure does not mean you are a loser. But when you keep going and keep working hard, you will win. Without pain, suffering, regrets or failure, you will never become the greatest.

1The writer had little homework when he was in _______.

    A.Grade Two B.Grade Three C.Grade Four D.Grade Five

D.The writer was the best students in his class when he was in the sixth grade.

3The writer studied harder and more carefully _______.
