How fit are your teeth? Are you lazy about brushing them? Never fear: An inventor is on the case. An electric toothbrush senses how long and how well you brush, and it lets you track (追踪) your performance on your phone.

The Kolibree toothbrush was exhibited at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. It senses how it is moved and can send the information to an Android phone or iPhone via a Bluetooth wireless connection.

The toothbrush will be able to teach you to brush right (don’t forget the insides of the teeth!) and make sure you’re brushing long enough. "It’s kind of like having a dentist actually watch your brushing on a day-to-day basis," says Thomas Serval, the French inventor.

The toothbrush will also be able to talk to other applications on your phone, so developers could, for instance, create a game controlled by your toothbrush. You could score points for beating monsters among your teeth. "We try to make it smart but also fun," Serval says.

Serval says he was inspired by his experience as a father. He would come home from work and ask his kids if they had brushed their teeth. They said "yes," but Serval would find their toothbrush heads dry. He decided he needed a brush that really told him how well his children brushed.

The company says the Kolibree will go on sale this summer, for $99 to $199, developing on features. The U.S. is the first target market.

Serval says that one day, it’ll be possible to replace the brush on the handle with a brushing unit that also has a camera. The camera can even examine holes in your teeth while you brush.

【1】Which is one of the feature of the Kolibree toothbrush?

A.It can sense how users brush their teeth.

B.It can track users' school performance.

C.It can detect users' fear of seeing a dentist.

D.It can help users find their phones.

【2】What can we learn from Serval's words in Paragraph 3?

A.You will find it enjoyable to see a dentist.

B.You should see your dentist on a day-to –day basis.

C.You can brush with the Kolibree as if guided by a dentist.

D.You'd like a dentist to watch you brush your teeth every day.

【3】Which of the following might make the Kolibree toothbrush fun?

A.It can be used to update mobile phones.

B.It can be used to play mobile phone games.

C.It can send messages to other users.

D.It can talk to its developers.

【4】What can we infer about Serval's children?

A.They were unwilling to brush their teeth.

B.They often failed to clean their toothbrushes.

C.They preferred to use a toothbrush with a dry head.

D.They liked brushing their teeth after Serval came home.

【5】What can we learn about the future development of the Kolibree?

A.The brush handle will be removed.

B.A mobile phone will be built into it.

C.It will be used to fill holes in teeth.

D.It will be able to check users' teeth.

An unusual school, Notch Peak Elementary, has just one student and only one teacher. The only student is Corinne Gaby. Her teacher is Lisa Geary. Corrine has no brothers or sisters and lives with her parents on a large farm in a mountainous area.

The school is based on the idea that every child has the right to a public education-no matter where that child lives. But the closest public school is at least a one-and-a-half hour drive away. And that road is not considered safely passable during the winter.

A new, separate school was not built. Instead, a classroom area was created on the second floor of a horse barn (马厩). Large windows keep the room bright, and a wood stove provides heat.

Several teachers were considered for this unusual teaching situation. The first lasted a year. The next left after two. Then came Lisa Geary. She says her first year was “harder than expected.” She faced lonely surroundings and severe weather.

“It wasn't easy in the beginning Corinne was strong-headed, and it was tough.” Geary said she became discouraged with their lack of progress .At first, she said it seemed like Corinne did not want to be taught. “We really, really struggled that first year, so it wasn't fun for me as a teacher who is waiting for her cup to be fled up.” Corinne agrees that the start of teaching was difficult.

But over time, Corinne said Geary's teaching methods changed her mind about the unusual one-on-one learning situation. “Now in fifth grade and fourth grade, Ms. Geary and I have seen lots of changes in ourselves.” Corinne says Geary's teaching has taught her far more than just what happens in the classroom.

Geary adds that in every teaching situation, the relationship between teacher and student is very important. She says that her relationship with Corinne is now so close, the two are like family.

Corinne agrees that the two have a much deeper connection than most students and teachers. She describes Geary as the “greatest teacher in the galaxy.”

The two also spend a lot of time together outside the classroom. Sometimes Corinne even gets to sleep over at her teacher's house, and they both love taking care of the animals on the farm.

1Geary said her first year was “harder than expected” because________.

A.she had to drive at least one and a half hours to get back home

B.Corinne's parents didn't like the teacher and her teaching ways

C.the life was poor in the cold weather and there was little progress in Corinne's study

D.Corinne wasn't willing to be taught by Geary and didn't like to have lessons at home

2Which of the following about Lisa Geary can be inferred from the passage?

A.She got on well with Corinne at first.

B.She changed Corinne a lot but little in herself.

C.Teaching in Notch Peak Elementary is her first job.

D.Geary's teaching methods finally changed Corinne.

3How does Corinne's feeling change to Geary?

    A.Excited-happy. B.Afraid-glad. C.Difficult- close. D.Strange-satisfied.

4Choose a sentence by Corinne that best describes Geary as the “greatest teacher in the galaxy”.

A.“We are living together. We're just a family.”

B.“She is the teacher who is waiting to fill me up.”

C.“She gives me chances and she really believes in me.”

D.“It is she who has spent almost three years with me in the horse barn.”
