24、Earlier this month, a colored pottery exhibition was held at the Wuhan Optical Valley Experimental School in Hubei. Many pieces of pottery in different sizes were shown at the school. Some of them were a bit broken, but all of them were beautiful works of art created by the students.
These works joined many other pieces of pottery placed around the school. At the end of last year, the school started a project that called on teachers to collect disused or broken pieces of pottery from the countryside. So far, they have collected about 3,000 pieces.
“Pottery used to play an important role in the daily lives of Chinese people. Students can better understand history by studying it,” school head Ma Guoxin told Chutian Metro Daily. “In addition, students can put their creativity into this pottery.”
Students turned the pottery into special works of art. They were all encouraged to paint the pottery, even though they didn’t know how to paint.
In March, the school held a pottery painting competition. Eighth-grader Wang Zixuan had little knowledge of painting, but he painted a starry night landscape on one piece of pottery that was included in the exhibition.
Almost every classroom has colored pottery. They are either used as flowerpots or chalk boxes. The school has also set up several art corners to show the pottery. For example, some pottery has been put on bookshelves outside of a hall. It has become an enjoyable place for students to rest and read.

25、Old George selected his food in the supermarket more carefully than NASA chose its astronauts. When he left the cashier, he was pleased to think that he had saved 80 cents today.
At the exit, the cold wind made him think of his gloves. He looked for them in his coat and pants but could not find them anywhere. George, calm on the outside but mad on the inside, re-entered the store. He followed the same route he had walked before. Several minutes of searching turned out to be in vain (徒劳). His black gloves were gone. “People have changed,” he said to himself. “Years ago, if somebody picked up something lost, they would give it back. Not any more!”
He stared at anybody wearing black gloves to see if they looked like his. On his way to the dairy section, he noticed a lady wearing a pair of black gloves. He sped up and in three seconds was in front of her. But when the surprised woman looked over, his eyes dropped, for her gloves were just far too small to be his. He went over to the cashier to ask if she had received any lost gloves, but she said no. He finally walked out into the street.
A few days later, poor George decided to buy another leather pair. Before getting on the subway, he stepped into the supermarket again to see if by any chance his gloves had been returned to the lost and found office. “What color are they?” the woman in the office asked. “Black,” he gave the same answer. She looked into her drawer and drew out a pair of men’s leather gloves. “Are they?”
“Yes! Those are mine,” George exclaimed, his eyes full of joy.

Alexis’ father would try to trick her and say that her story went a different way, but she always corrected him.
Most 12-month-old children take their first steps on their own and most 18-month-olds can only name a small number of objects and body parts, and follow simple two-step questions.
Even though Alexis is a genius (天才), her parents are faced with lots of challenges like how to teach her to make friends of her own age.
