  • 21、Henry Ford was a great engineer and successful businessman. He was born on a farm in America on July 30th, 1863 and had two younger brothers and two younger sisters. His father was a farmer and he always hoped that Ford would become a farmer too.

However, Ford didn’t like farm work at all. Instead, he spent most of his time studying the machines. He had a great talent for working with machines. When he was thirteen years old, he was able to fix his watch. At the age of 16, Ford left the family farm and went to Detroit. He found a job in a machinery factory and learned more about machines by working in the factory. In 1886, he developed engines (发动机) and began to make efforts to make his own car.

By the end of March, 1904, the company had sold almost 600 Ford cars and at the start of 1905, the company produced 25 cars each day. In 1908, Ford’s company created the Model T cars. It soon became popular in America because it ran so fast that it could help people win in races. More importantly, it cost less. By 1918, half of the cars running in America were the Model T cars.

  • 22、How to sing like a superstar is a question people have been asking for ages. We naturally admire(羡慕)the stars we want to sound like when we’re young and just experimenting(尝试)with singing. But as we get older, we find that we have our own voice.

In my opinion, you can only be a superstar if you find your own voice. If you want to sound great and attract(吸引)people, just get comfortable with your own voice. Do you think Bob Dylan has a great voice? Of course not, but people love his voice and his songs. One of the main reasons is that he’s very comfortable with himself and his own voice. So remember this when you’re asking yourself how to sing like a superstar.

I hate hearing many singers trying to imitate others! But it still happens all the time and yes, some of them do become famous by trying to sound like others. I just don’t feel like I’m listening to real art when I hear these so-called stars trying to imitate someone else with their voice.

Now one thing I like to do is to sing other people’s songs in my own voice. Yes, you can practice a great song by an artist you love while you’re driving down the road, but practice it in your own voice not his or her voice. Turn down the volume a little and hear your own natural voice singing the song and giving it a new flavor(特色)!

That’s exciting and you’re being true to yourself. We’re supposed to be artists and that means expressing ourselves in a unique(独特的)way. So if you’re asking how to sing like a superstar, remember to just use your own voice.

【1】What can we infer from the text?

A.The writer is a famous singer.

B.Young people are likely to imitate the stars they love.

C.People love songs sung in a unique way.

D.It’s not real art to sing other people’s songs.

【2】The underlined word “imitate” in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to ________?

    A.invent

    B.copy

    C.help

    D.like

【3】What is the author’s attitude (态度) towards singers’ imitating other singers?

    A.Against.

    B.Not sure.

    C.Hopeful.

    D.Certain.
