六、阅读理解 (共3题,共 15分)
  • 21、

My school went on a camp in the north of the city last Friday. We did simple things like cooking food in the bush(灌木) and sleeping in tents(帐篷). Among all of them, I enjoyed the two exciting activities most.

One of the activities was called Flying Fox. When you are taking part in the activity, you are connected to a wire(金属线) that begins from the top of a mountain to the ground. Then you jump off the mountain. There are very strong ropes so you are very safe.

Before I went on the Flying Fox, I was a bit afraid. My classmates kept on encouraging me. So I closed my eyes and jumped. I felt my whole body was flying! It was so wonderful!

Some students in my class were also afraid of doing it at first. We just cheered them up and encouraged them. In the end, everyone in my class enjoyed it.

The other activity was called High Ropes. You need to walk on a wire in midair. To make yourself safe, you should hold the ropes hanging in the tree. Every time you walk on and take hold of the next rope, the space between the ropes becomes longer.

I once missed a rope and fell from the wire. My heart was in my mouth! Thanks to the protection equipment(设备), I didn’t fall to the ground. I pulled myself up and kept going. When I arrived at the final place, I felt so pleased. I thought it was like life: you just have to keep going no matter what happens. This camp was really enjoyable. I hope I can go to more camps in the future.

B.students always can’t help doing something dangerous

C.we should keep going when facing problems or difficulties

D.it’s impossible to form close friendships when people are in need

  • 23、Chloe Hawthorne, the owner of a famous restaurant, received a letter from her customer one day.

    19th January

    Dear Ms. Hawthorne,

I’m writing to express my disappointment with the evening my wife and I spent at your restaurant two nights ago. While the food was, as usual, very good, I regret (感到遗憾) to inform you that the service from our waiter, Max, was most unsatisfactory.

First of all, when we arrived, we discovered our table overlooking the garden had been allocated to some other customers. The new table we finally received was by the door and when I complained, Max just laughed.

Furthermore, as we were sitting down, he said too much to my wife, which deeply embarrassed her. When our meal came, he served the food carelessly and at the end cleared the plates in an awful manner.

I look forward to hearing from you with a satisfactory reply.

    Rupert Metcalf

As for the other table by the door, I went to a lot of trouble to set it up. When they complained about it, I couldn’t help laughing. But I have no reason to laugh at my customer.

Another thing, this business about his wife. I only complimented (恭维) her on her dress. She didn’t seem to mind.

OK. I admit I forgot to clear the table the way I was supposed to.

I apologize if I have caused you problems, but I’ve been really popular at the Café. Hope to hear from you soon.

    All the best.

    Max

    A.hard-working
