六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Choose the best answer (根据以下内容,选择最恰当答案)

Nicolas Anelka arrived in Shanghai last month to begin playing for Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League (中超联赛). Anelka is French and played for France’s national team as well as for Chelsea (切尔西队) in England. He is the biggest and the latest of a growing number of foreign stars that have come to play professional sports in China.

At the beginning of this season, the Chinese Basketball Association had several NBA players in the league including Wilson Chandler and Kenyon Martin. These players came to China because of the NBA lockout (停摆,停赛) last September. They wanted to play basketball and they were able to get the same salary here as they would have in the NBA. However, most of them left China when the NBA season started again. The CSL and the CBA are happy to welcome these players and to pay them big salaries because both sports leagues have had trouble keeping their fan base. The CSL has lost many fans because of past match fixing scandals (打假球丑闻) and the CBA has suffered by comparison with the NBA — it’s just not as exciting.

China’s professional sports teams have a long way to go if they are going to match the quality of play seen in other countries. Bringing in top foreign athletes (运动员) is a way for Chinese athletes to learn and to improve. And it’s hoped that the big names will fill the seats in China’s stadiums and arenas (赛场).

More foreign athletes, such as Anelka, are also discovering that China is a great place to spend part of their careers. The money is good, but they also like the country and its culture. Anelka, for one, says he is “delighted (高兴的)” to be here. I think Shanghai is delighted to have him.

【1】Nicolas Anelka has played for ________.

    A.Shanghai Shenhua and Chelsea

    B.Chelsea and France’s national team

C.Shanghai Shenhua and France’s national team

D.France’s national team, Chelsea and Shanghai Shenhua

【2】Wilson and Kenyon Martin came to China ________.

A.when the NBA season started again

    B.last month

C.at the beginning of this season

    D.last September

【3】The possible reason why NBA players left China is that ________.

A.the CBA is not very happy to welcome the players

B.the CBA refuses to pay the players the same salary as they’ve expected

C.the CBA isn’t as exciting as the NBA

D.the players have lost their interest in playing basketball

【4】The underlined part can be replaced (替代) by ________.

    A.foreign stars

    B.great people

    C.those who are rich enough

    D.famous foreign athletes

【5】Which of the following sentences is true according to the passage?

A.China’s professional sports teams should try hard to make improvements.

B.Nicolas Anelka is the biggest and the last foreign star who has come to China to play professional sports.

C.Nicolas Anelka is delighted to spend the rest of his career in Shanghai.

D.Past match fixing scandals have made the CBA lose many fans.

【6】What is the best title for the passage?

    A.Nicolas Anelka, welcome to Shanghai.

    B.Famous people in Shanghai.

    C.China attracts more foreign athletes.

D.How to solve the problems of Chinese sports.

  • 22、"Tom? Are you in bed yet?" called Mrs. White. There was no answer. Mrs. White put down her book and went to her 14-year-old son's room. Tom was sitting in front of a bright computer screen on which a motorbike was running fast.

"Oh, Tom. You're still playing on that computer game. You must stop now, because it's half past eleven. If you don't go to bed soon, you'll be very tired tomorrow." said Mrs. White.

"But I've nearly won the game." Tom said to Mrs. White. She could see the excitement on his face. She sat down beside him.

"You're always playing on the computer. You spend more time on this machine than on your homework."

Today more and more families have computers. Parents hope computers can help their children improve their study at school. But many of their children use computers to play games and watch videos instead of studying. We often see that computer net bars are crowded with people, especially young boys. They spend a lot of money competing (竞争) with the computerized (用计算机控制的) machines. The more they lose, the more they want to win. The result is that they don't want to work or study.

In some countries, even scientists hate computers. They say computers cause millions of people to lose their jobs or cause them a lot of trouble. Computer game addiction () is a serious problem in social (社会的) life. Something should have to be done to solve the problem.
