For many people in North America, the last week was the coldest of the year. To help some poor people keep warm, some kind people tied(系) scarves to trees in big cities for people in need.
“I AM NOT LOST!” read a note on a scarf tied to a tree in Wilmington, “If you need this to stay warm, please take it. It is yours. Be warm, and do something to help someone else today if you can.”
The member of a teenage soccer team put many of the scarves around Wilmington. They bought around 300 scarves for poor persons and left them on the Bloomsday runner statues(雕塑) in Riverfront Park with notes like the one above.
A group of villagers also left their scarves all over the cities. “The scarves get right to the people who want them,” said Wendy Grahl, one of the villagers, “If you’re poor and it’s 30 below, a scarf is going to be welcome.”

After wandering around in the city for a long time, Tom finally found himself standing in front of the palace. He looked through its golden gate, hoping to take a look at a real prince.
