Choose any activity of your choice, such as playing team sports or joining a dance class, and soon you will find your comfort level around people increasing day by day!

28、Tanzanian government has set up a high-speed internet service on Mount Kilimanjaro, which was named a World Heritage site in 1987. The government says the service will promote safety for climbers and allow people to post selfies as they climb Africa’s tallest mountain at 5,895 meters.
The mountain, created by volcanoes and rising out of a large, open flat area, is part of Kilimanjaro National Park in the northeast of Tanzania. Around 50,000 people visit the park each year. But climbing such a tall mountain isn’t easy. Roughly one-third of the people who try to climb it are forced to give up. The new internet service should make it easier for climbers to reach the top. They can use the internet to check maps and find their way, or call for help if they need it.
Currently, the new service reaches more than halfway up the mountain. The government says that by the end of the year, climbers will get internet even at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The government says safety is the main reason for setting up the internet service on the mountain. As Tanzania depends heavily on tourists, having people post pictures and videos on social media as they climb Mount Kilimanjaro could certainly make the spot even more popular with tourists.
Some people in Tanzania are upset that the government is focusing on internet for tourists instead of the livelihood of people living in the country. One study in 2020 showed that only about 83% of the people living in Tanzania can get cell phone service where they live. It also bothered people who were worried that the project might affect the environment on the mountain. Scientists have already warned that the glaciers on top of Mount Kilimanjaro may melt in the next 10 years. So far, the cable car project doesn’t seem to be making much progress.

A.It is formed by volcanoes.

B.To show the importance of the Net.
C.To help its people connect better.
D.To improve the safety of climbers.
【3】What has mad some people in Tanzania unhappy with the internet service?

B.Livelihood of the citizens.

29、Cars could soon be communicating with each other using 5G to make drivers aware of upcoming dangers, scientists claim.【1】It could also make drivers aware of potholes(坑洼) or other dangers up ahead.
Several car manufacturers are already integrating 5G into their vehicles, including making it work as a tool to help serve the generation of self-driving vehicles.
Experts at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) believe the high-speed connection will also improve the reliability and capability of automated vehicles.【2】According to the World Health Organization traffic accidents cause more than 1.3 million deaths and up to 50 million people injured worldwide every year.【3】 Dr Dimitrios Liarokapis, a member of the research group, said, “To have a better idea of what the future will look like, think of having such cars with sensors, which can be used to scan what’s around them.【4】 With the help of 5G, a vehicle-generated early warning system that alerts drivers is possible within the next few years. Cars that are close enough to the danger area will send warning messages to other cars around them using short-range communication technologies, and also to cars further away using 5G, fast and reliably.”
【5】 Of them, earlier this year Ford showed its intention to fit 80 percent of its vehicles with technology that warns drivers about upcoming road accidents, bad weather and traffic jams.
A.They will be safer than manual cars being driven today.
B.A few manufacturers are already working on connected cars.
C.Some manufacturers even wonder whether 5G will work well.
D.The fast mobile Internet would allow of sending information rapidly.
E.The experts predict the number of road traffic accidents will drop sharply.
F.In some places, it is unlikely for self-driving vehicles to get 5G signals.
G.Interestingly, they can exchange safety-related information over an area that covers several square miles.

31、
The Sculptor Speaks
Appreciation of sculpture depends upon the ability to respond to form in three dimensions(维度). That is perhaps why sculpture has been described as the most difficult of all arts; certainly it is more difficult than the arts which involve 【1】 of flat forms, shape in only two dimensions. Many more people are ‘form-blind’ than color-blind. Children learning to see, first distinguishes only two-dimensional shape; it cannot judge distances, depths. Later, for their personal safety and practical needs, they have to develop partly by 【2】 of touch, the ability to judge roughly three-dimensional distances. But after they 【3】 the requirements of practical necessity, most people go no further. Though they may 【4】 considerable accuracy in the perception(知觉,感知) of flat form, they do not make the further intellectual and emotional effort needed to 【5】 form in its full spatial existence.
This is what the sculptor must do. He must 【6】 continually to think of, and use, form in its full spatial completeness. He gets the solid shape, as it were, inside his head—he thinks of it, whatever its size, as if he were holding it completely in the hollow of his hand. He 【7】 visualizes a complex form from all round itself; he knows while he looks at one side what the other side is like, he will have to 【8】 himself with its centre of gravity, its mass, its weight; and he realizes its volume, as the space that the shape displaces in the air.
And the sensitive observer of sculpture must also learn to feel shape simply as 【9】, not as description or reminiscence(回忆,联想). He must, for example, see an egg as a simple single solid shape, quite apart from its significance as food, or from the 【10】 idea that it will become a bird. And so with solids such as a shell, a nut, a plum, a pear, a tadpole, a mushroom, a mountain peak, a kidney, a carrot, a tree-trunk, a bird, a bud, a lark, a ladybird, a bulrush, a bone. From these he can go on to appreciate more complex forms of combinations of several forms.
