Jane was first up on stage. The minute she began to sing, everyone could tell she had been practicing! Next, it was Helen’s turn. Her voice was not as strong as Jane’s, but she had a great sense of rhythm(节奏感). All the girls took turns singing. There were a few mistakes, but all in all, everyone had a wonderful time.
“Come on, Peter. It’s your turn now!” said the girls. But Peter shook his head. “No, thanks. I can’t do it.” he said. “Don’t be afraid. If you like, we can sing together,” said Eve. Finally Peter gave in. He and Eve shared the microphone(麦克风)and they began to sing a rock song. 26、Shenzhen is an important stopping place on the East Asia-Australia migratory (迁徙的) route of winter birds. If you are a bird watching lover, here is some advice for you.
Check the sunrise and sunset and tide level
The best bird watching times are the two hours after sunrise and the two hours before sunset. In the late afternoon, the tide at Shenzhen Bay becomes lower. Some birds appear to find food among the mud. Most of the land birds also prefer to find food in the early morning. However, a lower tide doesn’t mean it is better for bird watching. The best tide height for watching birds is between 0.5 and 1.2 meters.
Prepare your birding tools
Binoculars (双目望眼镜) are often used for watching land birds because of its small size and light weight. A monocular telescope (单目望远镜) is often used for watching faraway birds. If you want to take photos while watching, you can simply use your cameras on your cellphones.
Have birding rules in mind
Don’t feed, catch, or run after the birds for getting nice photos. These behaviors are not good for their natural habits and health. Don’t come near their nests since some birds may be dangerous and some may leave their nests and chicks when noticing any humans.

27、For most people, graduation is an exciting day. But my graduation day was not.
l remember that weekend two years ago. Family and friends had travelled from across the country to watch our class walk across that stage. But like everyone else in my graduating class, I had watched the economy turn from bad to worse in my fourth year of university. We graduates had degrees, but very few job opportunities. I knew that the next day I would no longer have a place to call home.
I knew my small university town couldn’t offer me any opportunities, so I drove to southern California to find work. But what I thought would take a week lasted for two weeks, and then four weeks, and I found myself in the same place I was in before.
You know that feeling when you wake up and you are full of fear? Fear about something you can’t control. You hope that everything that has happened to you so far is just a bad dream.
So what did I do to stay calm? I wrote. Something about putting words on a page made everything seem a little clearer --- a little brighter. Something about writing gave me hope. If you want something enough...sometimes a little hope is all you need!
I turned my frightening feelings into a children’s book --- about a surprising hero who simply refused to give up on his dream.
Then one day, without a writing degree or contracts (合同) in the writing world --- just a lot of hard work --- I was offered a publishing deal for my first book! After that, things slowly began to fall into place. I was offered a second book deal. Then, a few months later, I got an interview with a big company and got a good job.
It takes time, but just hold on --- things can change when you don’t expect it.
