四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、When you are about to do something brave, a cheerful wish of “Good luck!” from a friend can be helpful. But if you think you need lots of luck, what else might you do?

In the UK and US there are some strange traditions for bringing yourself a little more good luck. Some are hundreds of years old and some are much newer.

Have you heard the saying “When you wish upon a star”? If you are looking up at the sky on a clear night and you see a sudden flash of light, it is probably a shooting star! Seeing one doesn’t happen very often. The saying goes that if you see one you have been very lucky, and so ifyou make a wish, it will come true.

Maybe you have heard of the lucky rabbit’s foot. Some people believe that rabbits are lucky animals, so they carry a part of the rabbit, its foot, for good luck. There are all kinds of strange, unclear rules about which of the rabbit’s feet is the luckiest. It is said that this good luck tradition is the oldest one of all. However, as the funny saying goes, “Depend on the rabbit’s foot if you will, but remember it didn’t work for the rabbit!”

People in Britain love trees. If it is autumn and leaves are falling from the trees, some people try to catch the leaves as they fall because they think each leaf they catch will bringthema lucky month in the following year—they will need to catch 12 falling leaves to have a whole of good luck.

1Which thing is mentioned in the oldest good luck tradition?

    A. A falling leaf

    B. A rabbit’s foot

    C. A shooting star

    D. A cheerful wish from friends

2According to Paragraph 3, we know that ______.

    A. people can see a shooting star on a rainy night.

    B. shooting stars can often be seen

    C. people believe that it’s unlucky to see a shooting star.

    D. your wish may come true if you see a shooting star.

3British people try to catch 12 falling leaves because ______.

    A. the leaves fall in autumn.

    B. there are so many leaves to catch.

    C. they want to have a whole year of good luck.

    D. the leaves can bring them a lucky month.

4In Paragraph 5, the underlined word “them” refers to(指)______.

    A. leaves   B. people   C. trees   D. years

5The passage is mainly about ______.

    A. how to wish upon a star

    B. things that bring good luck

    C. British people love leaves

    D. which of the rabbit’s feet is the luckiest

  • 25、Imagine you are watching a movie you've been waiting months to see at a movie theater. All of a sudden, a man's cell phone rings. Not only does the man answer it, he keeps talking on the phone for a long time. Situations like this make many people need cell blocking equipment (屏蔽设备). While this is quite understandable, it's much fairer and safer to allow people to use their cell phones in movie theaters.

Using cell phones in movie theaters is a matter of culture. If you look around a theater, most people there are not using phones and are enjoying the film they paid to see. The few bad apples are those that are rude (粗鲁的) in almost all situations, and those who shout at waiters and cut in line. Putting in the blocking equipment would cause trouble for everyone, not just the impolite, but the polite people as well.

There are also some people who disagree to put in cell phone blocking equipment because of emergency situations (紧急情况). There are times when people might be getting a message that needs them to leave the theater. Some of these might be car accidents, births, deaths, or someone getting locked out etc. All of these are situations that would just need someone to leave the theater at once.

Putting in cell phone blocking equipment would be unfair to those who know how to use their phones politely. The answer to this problem is to make sure rules are followed, not to stop everyone in the theater from using their cell phones.

【1】The man mentioned in Paragraph 1 can be described as ________.

    A.shy

    B.impolite

    C.friendly

    D.strict

【2】According to the text, the bad apples ________.

A.are rude not just in movie theaters

B.show no interest in the movies at all

    C.welcome the blocking equipment

D.like to spend money on the newest phone

【3】How does the writer explain that cell blocking equipment is bad for emergency situations?

    A.By giving examples.

    B.By comparing two situations.

    C.By giving advice.

    D.By sharing a saying.

【4】Which of the following shows the structure of the text? (P=Paragraph)

    A.

    B.

    C.

    D.

五、短文填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 28、 Blame(责备) is one of the biggest problems that we meet in everyday life. 【1】 And when that doesn't happen, we blame other people, places or events that we think are the causes of our unhappiness.

Everything we feel comes from within us. 【2

If we create unhappiness for ourselves, the world will show us that unhappiness, but if we create joy, peace, and love for ourselves, this is what we will get back.

Can blame solve any problems? 3   When people did something hat makes us angry, afraid or hurt, we are doing nothing more than showing them the anger we feel inside.

We have choices about things that make us unhappy. We sometimes prefer to take the easier choices, the ones that keep us in our comfort zone(地带). 4 Sometimes we just have to go beyond our comfort zone, which may mean facing something we don't like. Perhaps we feel like a victim(受害) and don't stand up for ourselves or speak up when we feel that people don't respect us. Maybe we are afraid of a situation, so we run away from it, instead of facing it with inner strength.

Whatever the problem is, we have a choice every day to face it with blame, fear, anger, guilt(内疚), or with love, kindness, peace. 5   Don't blame. Enjoy your day.

    根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺,内容完整,并将答题卡相应选项涂黑。

    A.Simply, it can't.

    B. We create it and we live through it

    C. How will you walk into your day?

D.We seem to know that the world is there to make us happy.

    E. But how comfortable is it really when we are annoyed by someone else?
